    • coffee does increase the heart rate, therefore burning more than if you didn't drink coffee. noticable? probably not.

      • i don't think your heart rate has anything to do with weight loss. restricting your calorie intake is the primary means of weight loss. exercise accelerates it.

  • There is some evidence that there may be an effect on glucose absorption produced by compounds found in coffee see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chlorogenic_acid (and links therein). I don't know why if you roast & grind your own coffee (like I do) that you could not throw a few green beans into your grinder at the same time. I presume that the green bean aspect preserves the levels of the Chlorogenic acid. I wonder if the taste of the green beans is awful?

      • There are a few other studies as well, which seem to support the effectiveness of this product and ones similar to it. What I think was lacking was the long term benefit of taking the product. The trial was too short in duration. It is better to see these products tested over a year or two.

    It really grinds my gears when peddlers of complementary and alternative "medicines" (I use the term loosely), invoke the TGA as if it somehow verifies their claims.

    A quick search shows that the product is merely listed. That is, they must verify their safety and quality, but not their efficacy.

    • I am loving the collective OzB-Brains trust here. For TGA there are fairly strict labelling requirementds. They 'may' be just trying not to fall foul of them.

    I hate the use of terms like may and could. I hate even more how they tell me how great their product is when consumed in conjunction with… blah blah blah. I could eat a goddamn KFC Double for every meal and lose weight "with a properly designed diet and exercise plan".

    What most people want to know is "will I lose weight even if I eat the same sh*tty foods as I do now?"
