Best Budget Skin Care? ALDI, Sukin, Neutrogena, Nivea etc

Hello skin experts

I'm just curious on people's thoughts on budget skin care? Any recommendations, even for individual products?

Any other brands out there?

I noticed my skin reacted better to Grown organic skincare than Sukin. It seems most these budget brands are always on sale too, has to be gem products in the line ups.

Skin care is a very personalised thing, what works for you may not work for others. A product line Neutrogena might break you out into crazy hives, and a product like Coles homebrand whatever might give you the best skin of your life.

The Ordinary. Tried and tested. Works better than Sukin or Neutrogena, but it depends on your skin type/age/concern.

  • I really like the Sukin products but, I agree, it will depend on individuals. I had a really bad reaction to Banana brand sunblock - it brought me up in welts.

I also use the Sukin Body Wash in the shower. I use a foam soap dispenser to make it easier to wash it off rather than forming a film. You could also use a cleasing puff. Which does a bit of exfoliating and gives the body wash a good froth as well.

  • I use the Muji daily exfoliator (once a fortnight) and Nivea face creme. Helps keep the eczema in line

  • sukin caused my skin to breakout. Tried 3 different types and it was just a no go.

    • you might be like me I am allergic to the preservative chloroacetamide, which they use in a lot of facial creams etc

  • Neutrogena for me. I like their Hydro boost night cream. Their toner was good to get rid of my comedo but it contains a lot of alcohol.

  • Avene cleanance 400ml

    • It economical, small gel amount plus water become a nice foam
    • Gentle on the skin
    • Last me for 5 months
    • For oily skin
    • PH Balance

Glow lab is a NZ brand I discovered this year and love - their night cream is divine and so light! Priceline and Woolworths stock it, I buy a few pots of moisturiser when they have their 6 monthly 40% off skin care sales ($19-20 minus 40%). I've been fairly happy with the Berts Bees range too, but it's a bit more expensive - again, I only buy it when it's 40% off

As others have said, it depends on your personal skin type, age and preferences, what you're trying to achieve, and also how many steps you are willing to include in your skin care routine.

Haven't tried that many brands and products but this is what I have found are good:

    • Sukin - For facial cleansers, hand soaps, hand cream. I like their Dermasukin line facial cleansers much more than their normal line because they contain minimal products, no fragrance and no essential oils that can irritate some people. You are right in that 'natural' doesn't always mean zero irritation. I only have mild sensitivity but I still prefer the Dermasukin range for their simplicity. As a bonus, it's also cheaper than their normal Sukin range :)
    • The Ordinary - budget-friendly high potency serums or facial oils for targeting specific skin conditions or maintaining skin health. As others have pointed out, they work. This brand totally changed my perception of skincare - the first time I actually saw improvement beyond basic maintenance. But it is only if you're willing to incorporate serums into your routine (before moisturising). They also make a good moisturiser as well.
    • Olay - good for all-in-one moisturisers at a reasonable price when half price (which happens a lot). Most of their products have good ingredients or sunscreen incorprorated, however probably not at as high concentration as The Ordinary.
    • i-Mju Hatomuji skin condioner or skin conditioning gel - great for hydration. Cheap as chips.
  • Don't use redwin I had a reaction to this product and found out I am allergic to the preservative chloroacetamide, found in Redwin Sorbolene Lotion, a top-selling moisturiser. major seller at woolworths doesnt effect everyone i freaked out so bad when this happened lol
