Help, Want to Change Shipping Address after Payment on eBay

I bought a PS4 off Sony eBay very recently and I accidentally used my Australia Post parcel collect address. I later found out that parcel collect only works for AusPost and Startrack and that Sony Australia ships with Toll. I've sent a message to Sony Australia but I doubt that they will reply before it gets delivered. Can they do anything in this case?

Also, if Sony cannot do anything and Toll attempts to deliver it to my post office and ends up getting sent back to the depot, can I request for a re-delivery to my home address?

Thank you for your help.

  • Have to cancel and re buy because ebay warns sellers not to send to any address outside of the original one used or they lose protection .

Your best bet is to get in contact with your post office or toll

    • Thanks. If I cancel and re-buy, will I be able to get the discount I applied to the original order? I bought it when it was 20% off using PRIZER.

      • It might have because it allowed 3 transactions but it has expired on the 8 so i highly doubt it

did you try to contact the seller before making post on ozbargin?

    • I did, but I doubt that they would reply before it gets shipped since the ETA is next Wednesday.

Maybe a phone call will get through better? Usually when an eBay seller tries to sell me someone thats sent by courier I normally get an email telling me they can't send it to my address and to provide them with an alternative one, so I'm hoping that happens to you.

Otherwise I imagine the package would fail delivery and you'd get a message that you'd have to come to the depot to get it? I know some places let you pick up at their own parcel lockers, depot or even at newsagents. I wonder if you end up getting the toll delivery with the tracking number if you can call toll and ask them to hold it at the depot or news agency?

    • Thank you, I'll try that.

I had something similar before, item went via Toll , to be delivered to a parcel locker. They Toll people called me and asked for another address, or I can come pick it up at their collection centre. Hopefully Toll/your parcel has your phone number.

Have you got a tracking number for TOLL? Call them and have the address changed.

    Call Toll.

You will be able to redirect the item, but it will just delay transit by a couple of days.

  • Better call Toll.

  • Merged from Need help with eBay situation

I've ordered an item from Sony Australia eBay last Saturday.

I set the delivery address to an Australia Post parcel collect post office, but I later found out that Sony ships with Toll and only Australia Post and Startrack parcels are accepted at AusPost POs. I contacted the seller about this and they said they'll update the address.

2 days later, a day before the scheduled arrival date, I find out that the tracking number (a Toll tracking number) still shows that Toll hasn't even received my parcel (although it was marked as sent on eBay). I contacted Sony eBay and they said that the parcel was actually shipped via DHL and the address didn't end up being changed since it was too late. They said that DHL marked the shipment as delivered to Australia Post, but DHL doesn't really do that. They said that they'll check with DHL.

I checked with my Australia Post after that and they said that there wasn't anything under my name to collect. So I sent Sony another message requesting for the correct tracking number and informing them that Australia Post hasn't received my package. They replied saying that they will contact DHL. That was yesterday.

It's 2 days after the estimated delivery date and I've sent Sony a message asking them if they had any news. I still don't have any reply from them.

What do you think is best to do in this situation? The item I ordered is quite expensive ($350).

Thank you so much for all your help.

    • My view is that the service that you engaged Sony to provide (I assume) included delivery to your nominated delivery point. As such, I would keep on chasing Sony to resolve.

It is really out of your control how Sony delivers it, and that is a personal hate of mine with the majority of online sellers. I've had good and bad experiences, and there is nothing that I (as the receiver) can do about it.
I've had requests for feedback from courier companies / delivery companies, but never from a seller. I would have thought that an online seller would want to have some confidence in the quality of the end-to-end experience, rather than just the online sale part.
      Rant over.

While that's true, it's not Sony's problem that:

and only Australia Post and Startrack parcels are accepted at AusPost POs

That's solely on either Australia Post for not accepting parcels from other delivery companies, or OP for providing an address that refused his parcel (kind of like giving your office address, and your office refusing to accept the delivery).

and there is nothing that I (as the receiver) can do about it.

Don't use Australia Post's Parcel Collect service.

          True on both counts.
But I've had problems with some delivery companies not delivering to my street address; they drop everything at the local post office (which I can't get to except on weekends).

Maybe we need a Royal Commission into delivery companies.

          • @GG57:

some delivery companies not delivering to my street address

Ok that's just a tad egregious.

    • Get the tracking number from Sony, see if you can locate it. If you still haven't gotten it say, a week from its expected delivery date, ask Sony for a refund. Paypal claim/chargeback if necessary after that.

    • they said that the parcel was actually shipped via DHL

      DHL streams to Auspost.
