  • OK I guess, seen better deals though.

Just a heads up - using maths you're better off to join Prime for $4.99 than pay $11.33 shipping.

      • +1

You can get a free trial of Prime.

        • +12

          But:

          using maths you're better off

He used maths. Your point is irrelevant.

          • +5

@MathNerd: This is why his deals aren't all that good.

Tempted to neg but feel sorry for him.

            • +2

@Scab: There will probably be comments about how crap Invicta watches are, and they will most likely be from people who have never owned one. Sure you can spend more and get a better watch, but for these prices I consider them a bargain.

I think this comment from Watchuseek member HoustonReal sums it up perfectly, and he knows way more than me -

Even if Invicta is an order of magnitude worse in quality control than Seiko, what does that mean? Do you have a 1/1000 chance of a bad Invicta vs 1/10,000 chance of a bad Seiko? Nobody here has actual statistics about quality and failure rates, so everything is anecdotal. There are lots of people here who have had no problems with their Invictas. There are also a lot of people here who have never owned an Invicta, who will tell you horror stories about someone they heard about who had one.

Buy from someplace with a good return policy, if you're that worried, like Amazon. If Invictas were really as awful as some people here think, they would be out of business. Instead, their big ugly monster watches, not only sell well on Evine, but there are pirated versions of Invicta Reserves being manufactured in China. Do you think Evine would continue hawking Invictas if a significant number of them were getting returned?

Invicta's Pro Diver line is somewhat respected here, with the 8926 being really popular for modding. The 9404 is the same basic model, with different color choices. I have heard people here who have had bad experiences with Orient watches, but that brand seems immune to the hate Invicta garners.

  • Good price. "Australia's Largest Watch Store" currently charges $275.

And they want $325 for the Invicta 18160.

  • -1

invicta is a pretty garbage brand, they have super inflated prices so you feel you are getting an amazing deal. you are better buying another brand like seiko or orient.

    • -2

      Spot on

    • +2

Have you ever owned an Invicta Pro Diver or Grand Diver with a Seiko Auto movement?

Please link to a Seiko or Orient dive watch with these specs for around this price?

      • +1

Correct me if I'm wrong but Invicta as a brand are just a "departmental store" brand. The Seiko movements in these are decently reliable though.

        • +2

I don't know what "departmental store" brand means, can you elaborate on that please?

          • +1

            @WatchNerd: e.g. Fossil watches

            • +6

@ltwo: Still not really sure what you're trying to say but regardless there is plenty of info in the description with links to Watchuseek where members know way more about watches than me.

The modding thread is a statement in itself. The fact that they're spending many hours pulling these apart & modifying them tells me that they're a solid watch.

For under $100.00 you are basically getting a budget 200m Seiko dive watch with an above entry level auto movement.
My Seiko SKX007 doesn't even have hacking or hand winding. Sure it has a better quality case, but it's in a totally different price bracket.

              • @WatchNerd: It's An amazing movement for <$100

Unfortunately watches are primarily luxury items (hence why most people don't even wear one). Brand is important.

I believe Invicta would sell many more watches if they were unbranded and had no logo at all. Their reputation is poor, it's a deal breaker for many.

        • at least they have some cred compared to DW

      • !=Username checks out

      • +1

I do have a Seiko and would spend $ over that any day over an "Invicta", regardless of their discount / price.
        I'd rather spend $150~ and grab a Seiko 5.

        • +1

Seiko watches are very nice, I have a Seiko SKX007 & it's one of my favourites. Some people can't afford $150 or more for the 007. The Invicta Pro Diver is awesome value for the price. If you don't believe me just click on the Urban Gentry review or the modding link in the description. Those guys have way more online cred than us.

    • +1

      Please link to a cheaper authentic DIVER's watch than this INVICTA Automatic 7044 available for US$89.99 – FLASHFS5 = US$84.99 + US$18 📦 + GST = US$113.29 = $157.33.

      • whoa

If I had the patience to mod, I would be buying this

  • +1

I pity those who buy Invicta watches at RRP. 90% off should be the fair deal for this brand. I prefer brands which do not mislead potential buyers with exaggerated RRP then offer huge discounts.

Still, up vote for this just basing on the specs to price, ignoring the brand.

  • Friends don't let friends buy Invicta :D

Friends shouldn't listen to friends who don't know what they're talking about :)

        Your words

Junk watches (loads of forums out there that attest to them being junk), regardless of what the usual suspects here want you to believe. Save your money up and get an actual Seiko divers watch that will last you a lifetime. Let the down votes begin.

    • Usual weekly junk watch run…

    • +2

All 3 of these watches feature Seiko Automatic movements.

      • -3

Putting an Mercedes engine in a Daihatsu Charade doesn't make it a Mercedes. It makes it junk car with a decent engine.

        • -4

          Hahahahahaha

        • +3

Save that our local Gumtree has had quite a few 1990's Mercedes < $1000 needing expensive work compared to the >$1000 Charades still going strong which run on the smell of an oily rag.

Your metaphor is as flawed as the rest of your claims mate.

      • +5

The INVICTA website confirms the 9110 and 21323 and also the 18160 feature the Seiko Caliber NH35A movement. Details of that movement are viewable here.

  • They're always trying to flog these off on Royal Caribbean cruises with ridiculous 90% off type sales.

    • Watch companies and vendors - especially Australian vendors - charge whatever they want. Our best defence is to pay the lowest price possible. Nobody has found a lower price with stock for OP's 3 watches.

  • +5

I love my Invicta Titanium automatic 0420 (purchased $124 last month), wearing it every day. You get a lot of bang for your buck.

I can also understand the Seiko-lovers' feelings towards Invicta. I have a $500 Citizen (Titanium, EcoDrive, perpetual calendar, sapphire) and I'm impressed with how every aspect is made/cut to precision. The clasp closes/opens perfectly with push buttons, the distances between each links are perfect etc. I see these Seiko/Citizen as equal rivals and imagine that Seiko is also at the top with their quality.

Having said that, these Invictas' value proposition shouldn't be discounted to junk status. It has its place and value.

    • Well done. $124 is a superb price for that model.

    • +10

Yeah, nah. As someone who buys the watches that they list (more often than I should, I mean, who really needs this many watches.), I have to say, I have never bought a watch that I didn’t think was incredible for the price. Most of them are in the sub $100 bracket and most of them are well known and long established brands. I'm not buying a Seiko based watch for $40 and expecting a Rolex, I'm expecting a $40 Seiko movement watch and typically what I get is a watch that feels and works well above its price point.

The reason they usually get upvoted is because the amount of time they take to bring us the deal. The pages are well thought out with lots of information, and usually with really deep discounts. They go to a lot of trouble to post, and I for one, appreciate the effort alone more so than the "bargain". Added to that, most of the watch posts have links to external reviews, so it's not as though they are forcing their opinion on you. You could always google the watch before buying it.

As for that diatribe about front page envy, that's what this site is about, posting high quality deals. I only wish half my deals were as good as theirs when it comes to impressing people. And this isn’t reddit or imgur. There is no benefit to posting a deal and getting it to the front page. The upvotes aren’t accumulated on your account for better status, it's just the validation that they posted a deal that a lot of people like. That the time and effort they put in was worth it. Nothing more.

But yeah, I want them to stop posting watch deals as well. My wife isnt happy that I have a whole house full of watches, that ironically, I don’t wear. I do love watches, though. The engineering makes me moist. So, yeah, Stop it, you watch experts… I don’t need any more god damn watches, ok!!

and LOL @ your 1 post history. Care to share your experience and expertise validation on watches?

watch clique posing as watch experts.

Don’t think I have ever seen one of them say that they are an "expert". Seem to be enthusiasts more than anything. Care to share a link to where they are proclaiming to be an expert on watches?

    • +6

I'm not buying another watch for a while, as I currently have ten plus a cheap Skmei for pedometer use.

My upvote is based on my perceived value-for-money on offer here. They're decent watches, keenly priced. The posts are comprehensive and contain useful, informative external links.

If not for these posts on OzB, I'd have never ordered from Starbuy — who were awesome — and I'd still only have four watches.
Which, in 2018 for someone like me is shameful.

    any tissot deals?

  • Purchased an Invicta diver for a family member years ago. Think it was this model. They really are cheap looking watches. Really worth shelling out for the Seiko and Casio entry level divers as they can't beat for under 500 bucks.
