Saw some Sphero BB-8's (R001USA) for US$29.99 in a Best Buy (on Black Thursday-night).
    In case somebody cares.

    • But Best Buy don't ship to Australia?

      • For that price you could drop ship.

        • Don't think any US stores got stock anymore. I ordered it from sphero directly and they messed up my order so bought it locally.

You had to be there at the time. Also there was an unusually high number of people lining up in the store pushing unopened TV boxes around. Maybe 60 buyers in the TV conga line? Not me though, I grabbed a lego millennium falcon!

Watched the YouTube videos. Still don't know what it does.

    • Nothing really, like remote toy cars it just runs around making weird noises. Very cute though.

      • You can do simple coding as well?

        • Doesn't say you can code

@naira: Yes, you can definitely do coding on these, they have the same capability as the Sphero Spark robot, and a little more (you can code functions to the head)
Have used these with students in the last.

            • @dansozb: Yeah, good for kids to start coding actually. Thanks

Fun for about 30mins. Sits on the shelf now with the rest of my geeky junk

  • "Coding"

Maybe I misunderstand. But I hate the way the word is being used now. Using such basic commands such as left/right just isn't coding.. It's playing. Coding is programming using essentials such as for loops, go to, next, if, else etc.
