Coles Split Payment System Is a Joke for Buying Gift Cards

Coles or should I say West farmers not to long ago implement systems which you can’t purchase a gift card for a gift card fair enough, I believed it is stop those from having cards which never expire and so forth fair enough. But what irritates me most is their monstrosity when trying to purchase any gift cards that won’t acept split payment?

I mean if you had visa gift card or such card like a eftpos Card and had to pay rest in cash, you won’t be able to pay for it and will be leaving empty handed. I am sure they can improve on this, I was aware of staff saying they are planning to update or something like that, who knows, how long has it been like this more than a year already?
What do you guys think?

    User error? I can split payments no problem when paying with eftpos prepaid card eg westfield xs

    Solution: Split payment by FIRST paying the cash portion, then pay the remainder with Gift Card.

      Tried at Kmart both assistance said u cant…. either way vise versa.

    I normally paid by egoft card first then pay the rest with cash or visa

      I have been doing this so almost forever before they changed everything, used to be much more simple as abc.

        just tried this today and it worked. also just simple as ABC or 123

    I have no problems. Insert cash then gift card for the balance.
    Have you tried turning it off and on again?

      Well the system self serve ask for staff assistance, still no luck, I asked staff and said just does not work how ever I would do it.

    No it was to stop people buying THIER cards at 5% off and then buying 3rd party cards like JBHI. In effect getting 5% discount on them.

    But what irritates me most is their monstrosity when trying to purchase any gift cards that won’t acept split payment?

    Don't use the self checkout then and use a real checkout. The checkout person can do split payment.

    Same here, no issues splitting payments, cash to gift cards to credit cards or vice versa or the opposite in whatever direction you want. This thread made me laugh, lol.

    People are missing the point. Op is talking about transactions involving buying a gift card.

    You cannot split payment anyway even if it is between multiple cards and cash.

    won't accept flybuy dollars either for gift cards. i use to use them to buy myer gift cards but they've changed it so it won't accept payments/split payments
