Note that this doesn't actually get the bugs off your windscreen, it only reduces the visibility of the splatted bug entrails that have been streaked across the windscreen by your wipers when attempting to clean them off (which it does quite well). You still need to get out and remove the bug remains by hand.

Was a life saver driving from Melbourne to Sydney when my windscreen became opaque thanks to a swarm of locusts.

Yeah, how dare they have a sale a few days after you bought the product. They should obviously have their marketing team give you a call every time they think of having a sale and confirm it's okay with you, the grand and almighty HKS, before they put anything out for cheap.

    • +23

Club plus member? You should have a credit in your account for the difference.

    • +5

Well if you bought from SuperCheap with your Club Plus membership (buy for $5 get $10 credit!) - there'll be $3.35 credit in your account to spend.
Only got yourself to blame if you didn't take up that great deal😞

    • +6

The self-entitlement is strong in this one.

    • if you are their club member, they will refund you the difference (that's one of the benefits if there is a price drop on any item with a month or so).

    • Ha ha.

  • does this solution add a layer/leave residual onto your windscreen?

  • Was about to buy then remembered we have bi-xenon headlights in one of our cars and you’re supposed to use some alcohol(?) based wiper fluid. Just wondering options exist for this?

    • -4

What the hell do headlights have to do with windscreen washing fluid?

      • +4

those headlights have separate nozzles for washing and the same liquid from the same tank is used…

        • I didn't even know headlight washers were a thing.

          • @Tacooo: Yeah, some older luxury cars have them. Dunno if they still do?

    • Are u sure the alcohol based fluid isn't for areas that get snow, etc?

  • +1

..thanks will grab some when i pickup my c&c from the other day

I’ve used this once before and hated it.

It just put a white substance on my windscreen.
Made more of a mess than anything. The white stuff obviously dried everywhere and looked horrid.
    Wouldn’t recommend.

    Inb4 curse jokes

    • I use this in our cars, never had that experience.
Maybe need to clean out your tanks?

    • +1

I experienced the same. It just leaves a white residue similar to if you cleaned your windscreen with some sort of household cleaner.

Maybe my expectations of it cleaning and leaving no residue similar to Windex we’re just illfounded?

      • +1

        Possibly add too much?

When I get the ratio wrong it comes out almost looking like washing detergent on my windscreen. It doesn't leave a residue tho, just needs more wiping till it evaporates.

    • +3

Been using this stuff for 20 years and never had an issue. Ditto my whole family basically.
Im going to assume you put too much in with the water and made the concentrate too strong?

  • This stuff is actually pretty good. I was going to replace my wiper blades because they were making a loud noise when swiping. But at $30, I didn't really want to buy new ones right before summer and have them get wrecked in the sun. So I added this Bug windscreen cleaner and now my wipers clean really well, and without the noise. It has lubricated the rubber. Happy.

  • Newbie with cars. So do we just mix it with water and add it in the windscreen water tank to be used for water wiper? Sorry about being naive. Is is the same thing as windscreen washer liquid? My tank is about to get empty hence asking.

    • +2

It's a concentrate. From memory you add about 75ml to your car's washer reservoir and then top up with tap water.

      • So this is windscreen cleaning fluid to be added in windscreen water tank with tap water?

        • +2

He literally just said that. Are you not reading?

          • +1

@Tacooo: So I just add it to the windscreen fluid, and then use it normally? Also, which tap should I fill the water from? The one in the garden, or the one in the kitchen, or the one outside the dunny?

            :-p

    • +1

      Windscreen Washer liquid

      You mean water?

  • -1

Do we hose the windscreen with water first and then "spray" or "rub with sponge" this solution on windscreen? There is no instruction how to use it.

    • This goes in the reservoir so neither of them.

    • +4

you put this in a bucket and fill up with water and pour it all over your car! Geez. Did you read any of the above before speaking?!

  • Its 25ml to a litre for the super concentrate. I have been using it for years since the 5L went on sale for ten bucks

  • I have 2.66 credit expired 9th, maybe just grab one of this.

  • What is this for? Washing the car?

    • +7

What is this for? Washing the car?

You serious? The product is literally called as Bar's Bug Windscreen Cleaner.

      • I was taking the piss

        • Haha, I suspected after just responding. Fixed the -ve vote someone had cast on your post.

  • I hate this stuff… have used it before and it leaves white residue on the glass outside of the wiping area.

    • …use less?

    • The product is a concentrate, and this could mean that you need to dilute it more than what you did. Probably just under a capfull of it should do for an entire windscreen reservoir of water.

  • +1

imho the blue supercheapauto branded stuff shits on this

    • But that one smells like shit

  • +1

I feel like some of these posts are some sort of flash troll event…

    • So I just add it to my radiator fluid to remove the bugs inside?

      • Put some into the air intake and fuel line just to clean 'em bugs up thoroughly. :-)

        • I drank some to get rid of a tummy ache … works well

          • @[Deactivated]:

I drank some to get rid of a tummy ache … works well

Should I pour it in through the nostrils for that? Wait, don't answer that.

Had a sniff and extremely strong ammonia smell. And mixed a little with water and lots of bubbles formed and it feels quite soapy. Probably just an ammonium hydroxide based cleaner with some other detergent chemicals added in. Possibly some chlorine in it as well.
