Xiaomi Robot Vaccum V2 (Roborock) Squeaking

Hi guys

Got a v2 xiaomi robot vaccum from gearbite. Been using it for 2 weeks. Since day 1 the unit seems to be squeaking i assume from the wheel area. Hasnt got better over use and happens on tiles and carpet. Should I raise a claim with gearbite or is there something i need to change?

  • Spray some WD40 first.

  • Are you me? I've bought the same Xiaomi S50 Roborock from the same seller and have the same squeaking issue.

    You are not alone :)

    • Oh damn! Have you contacted gearbite? I havent heard back from them…

      • Keep us updated with your experience from gearbite. They have a great reputation here, and are good at shipping things out quickly / competitively. I'd like to hear how their after-sale customer support is.

      • I haven't contacted Gearbite.

The Roborock functions great - it just badly needs some WD-40/silicon/grease somewhere (which is disappointing for a brand-new product).

If anyone has "fixed" this issue (or if you hear back from Gearbite), let me know!

    Ran over a bird?

    • ^This - most likely.

Modern interpretive dance highlighting the risk for others :(
Cold squished bird in aftermath of incident a while back. Owners discovered and tried to save.

      Dead.

Robot vacs not to be trusted. Xiaomi maybe especially?

I had this issue with my Roborock. It was the front swivel wheel squeeking.

I pulled it out (just pull it straight out) and put some WD40 in the wheel and metal rod, wipe down the wheel.

    No more squeek.

    • Nice one ill try too. Ill get the gear lube type wd40 too

      • If starts squeaking again/stickies up with dust, alternative to anything spray oil/grease , including silicone/teflon, is puff/smear graphite powder, for ozb cheap.

    • I'm pretty sure it isn't the cleaning roll that's squeaks, so your front swivel wheel theory checks out.

      I'll report back success/failure. Cheers!

    • Confirmed - WD40 does the trick! Thanks BigRedDog!

      • I am facing the same issue. So just taking out the front wheel and lubricating that should do the trick?

        • I wrote confirmed… Have a try

  • RE: Regular WD, for future other reference. Suggest using CRC 5.56, in preference.

Lower fume level, contains some more/functional lubricant, numbers in product name of less concern to superstitious people? Have used for many years and can vouch (not for that last bit).
    I don't know -

    From wiki -

CRC Industries is a manufacturer and distributor of industrial chemicals for maintenance and repair of marine, electrical, industrial, automotive and aviation equipment.
It was founded in 1958 after a verbal agreement between Rocket Chemical, the predecessor of the WD-40 Company , and Charles J. Webb II to distribute WD-40 fell apart. Webb then set up a competitor company in Philadelphia, Corrosion Reaction Consultants, Inc., and hired away Rocket president Norman Larsen to lead it. In 1960 it consisted of Larsen, two chemists and five staff.
Its first product was CRC Corrosion Inhibitor, also called 5–56.

  • I’m having the exact same screeching sound. It’s horrible! Same seller etc too. Will look into the recommendations above, thanks!

Also - has anyone had any issues of it just turning itself off? Full battery, no obstructions - I’ve started it then minutes later it’s quiet so I check on it and it’s completely turned itself off in the middle of my floor. Also gone offline several times and I’ve had to reset it.. I renamed it (he didn’t like the name José maybe?!) hoping that might help.

Contacted Gearbite again waiting for their reply.

  • Had the same issue after a couple weeks. I pulled out the mop attachment and put it back in. Somehow, the squeaking went away. No issues since.

    • I’ve learnt to live with it tbh.

Also had an issue where it said sensor issue and I had to open it up and power the sensor motor with a 9v battery lmao
