Bunnings Return Policy - Christmas Lights (Transformer)

Evening all.

Purchased a couple boxes of Christmas Lights from Bunnings today to add to the collection.

I made sure to test them before I started hanging them and both transformers and light strings worked fine.

Well… after climbing all over the roof this afternoon in the lovely Brisbane weather, it appears one of the transformers has carked it.

I turned it on about 6:30pm and all was fine… then half an hour later I went outside to admire my handy work again and one of the light strings weren't working.

I plugged the lights in the other transformer I bought today and voila, lights work.

Question is… do you think Bunnings would expect me to climb all over my roof again to take off the lights, or could I get away with returning just the transformer and getting a replacement?

Obviously I'll give them a call in the morning, just wondering what your opinions are.

Merry Christmas.

  • Don’t they close at 9? Call them now! Otherwise you’ll spend all night thinking about it. (Well, I would haha)

Edit: I am wrong. They close early on Sunday.

  • They close at 6pm here in Brisbane on Sundays.

    • You’re right, and in Melb too. I always think they’re open late. I’ve made this mistake several times. Apologies!

Buy a new box, swap out the transformer and return that, telling them that the lights are fine but the transformer is cactus. If you have a receipt they won't question it, Bunnings have a very liberal returns policy.

    • Good thinking.

I think I grabbed the last 2 boxes on the shelf though at my local.

I'd have to drive a bit further to grab a new box.

I'll keep that in mind though, cheers.

I've had no problem with returning a single part of something bought from Bunnings They just grabbed the piece I needed to exchange out of a new box, no questions asked.

    You will be fine!

    • That's what they did today. No dramas at all.

Thumbs up to Bunnings on this occasion.

This makes me think of the scene in the movie Christmas Vacation where Clark Griswold grapples with his Christmas lights.

Hope you get it all sorted.

Well….at one point I was up the ladder and the lights were tangled around my leg.

As I was trying to shake them loose, all I could think of was Clark Griswold as well…. haha
