Could you hang it from the ceiling?
      (the falcon, not the shepherd)

      • haha. didnt think of that. however i associate things hanging from the ceiling to childrens bedrooms? just not my thing. plus you would absolutely 100% want to make sure that where you mount it, how you mount it, how its secured is rock solid, as the kit would be very very heavy. not to mention the pure amount of man hours it takes to make the dam thing. if it did fall and smash, its such a complex kit you couldnt just put it back together. you would have to start again. and i dont know anyone that would want to do that.

        • What if we formed a list of OzBargainers that would be happy to piece a fallen falcon together again, after a fall?
Sound off below in the comments guys…

For those saying Lego (the real stuff made in Denmark and China as well as various other countries) is a waste of money, I have made a considerable amount of money by selling my old sets before reselling became widely known.

You'll have a hard time investing in Lego now that everyone is aware of how lucrative it was, and most every new set produced in the past few years has been stockpiled by optimistic people slightly too slow to the party. For a good set, you could still recoup most of your costs selling them second hand, especially if you keep the box and manuals in good knick.

I've never heard of anyone making money by stockpiling Lepin, fwiw.

even this kit $975 if you were to resell it tomorrow or a year from now or 10 years from now you can pretty much guarantee you wont lose your shirt. Worst case = lose a few dollars.

lepin = once you buy it - its worth basically nothing. If anything I think the lepin sets are overpriced.

I'm with you. I made $$$ as an accidental Lego investor. I had been bitten by the Lego bug, bought too much, and was shocked at what I got when I offloaded excess sets. Some of my better returns were a $275 set sold for $1050, a $169 set sold for $700 and a completely free minifig sold for $98.

I laugh at people now stockpiling sets for future profits. Between the myriad of scalpers doing that now, Lego re-releasing sets (such as this UCS MF) and Lepin, they've got no chance of making those kinds of returns any more.

I still promote Lego as a wonderful hobby in which you're very unlikely to lose much money if we sell everything off when you're done. I can't think of another hobby that holds its value this well.

  • Only buy this if you want to build it not keep it and sell it later. There are still many of these around from previous buyers. At this price point its not like you are going to find another buyer quickly given the number of other ones out of retail store selling them. Also you need the space to keep it on display once built. If you have a lazy $900 and your partner doesn't find out about the price go for it. I have already been told no.

Thats why you get it shipped to your work address and keep it in your outer suburbs factory with your motorcycle and home brew kit
