Bose Noise-Masking Sleepbuds $303.20 Delivered (RRP $379) @ VideoPro eBay

230
PRIZER

Bought these for the parents as they wanted to try it out, but most reviews seem to say it's ANC is on par with any other wireless earphones, the killer obstacle is not being able to play your own music so I personally wouldn't use it but you may be in a similar position where you can buy it for someone else as a gift.

As per usual, stack with your eBay gift cards and Cashrewards.

It sounds like an OK concept, but $300+ no way, gimmickish. But hey, selling point pitch, can you put a price on a "goodnight sleep".

  • -1

Reviews are pretty poor. Might as well get the real Bose noise cancelling headphones.

    • +2

Most of the reviews I've seen are very positive. And these are a totally different concept to noise cancelling headphones.

    • I didn't realise that you can wear them comfortably while you sleep? :-S

      • from the reviews I have read it is comfortable to sleep in as thats the sole purpose of this product

        • +1

I was replying to : "Might as well get the real Bose noise cancelling headphones"
When obviously they don't even compare as this is a different product designed for different things.

    • +1

This is not for listening to music

  • +18

I couldn't sleep after shelling out that much for these.

    • +8

That's your opinion… I'd cry myself to sleep if I spent this much on these.

  • Take your parents to a sleep therapist instead

    • +4

And how much would a sleep therapist cost for a few sessions each?

      • A couple of sessions of tailored advice from a professional would cost as much or less than these. If I couldn't sleep, I'd be going to the therapist.

      • I think mine were $130 after I got the medicare rebate back
but you know, if shitty sleep can take years off your life and lead to obesity/high blood pressure/diabetes/weak heart/etc then i wouldn't be trying to quantify their life expectancy in terms of a dollar cost

or just, you know, buy the bose's!

        • How do you get Medicare on these earbuds or was it off the therapy ?

          • @1Kenobi: I went to see a sleep therapist and the medicare was for that
These earbuds aren't sleep therapy equipment and are consumer goods so you'll be paying full price for them

That's not to say it won't help you though
I mean it might, or it might not

    • +1

Its not just about therapy. I live in apartments around the city and there is constant noise. Having something like this would be a godsend.

      • Well I guess it comes down to the reasons for poor sleep.
Can a therapist help improve sleep for someone in a noisy environment?
        I don't know?

  • +2

The concept of these is quite good. Shame about the price though.
When I’ve done night shifts and needed to sleep during the day I use those disposable ear plugs from Bunnings ($5) and put some white noise on the iPad. This works a treat.
I think I’d knock these out when rolling over as well.

    • I wonder how these compare to earplugs for blocking out noise levels it different types of noise.

  • I got some from amazon last week for this price with the additional 10% cash back option from CASHREWARDS. I figured I’d try them and if I don’t like them I’ll return to Bose for a refund. Currently they still have the 30 day trial and refund option.

    • +6

Tell us how they went. People balk at the price but if they give you a good nights sleep then they're worth it. Nothing worse than sleep deprivation at work.

  • +4

“most reviews seem to say it's ANC is on par with any other wireless earphones”

From memory they weren’t using ANC at all. Rather than noise cancelling they’re just masking the noise with a passive fit and clever choice of audio designed to cancel out common noises.

    • -1

Really? And they charge nearly $400 for them lol. These will end up much cheaper than this then. Earplugs will do just fine in the mean time.

      • I can't sleep with earplugs in my ears as the sound of having no sound is not comfortable. But thanks..

    • Ah good pick up! Thank you for the correction.

  • -1

    Better off with earplugs

  • +2

Whoever has one. Please post a review

So much $$$ but interested in seeing if you get a good nights sleep consistently

  • +1

I bought a pair of these from the qantas click frenzy sale with +2000 points and I think the noise cancelling is pretty good compared to my qc20s despite no ANC.

Essentially they're tiny wireless buds which passively noise cancel better than any earplugs I've used before, plus when you turn on the tracks it muffles pretty much everything around you.

The only thing to note is that as I'm a side sleeper I can't seem to last the entire night with these on. Otherwise these are great for either falling asleep with or not being woken in the morning for me. Bose also has a 30day money back guarantee, but I don't think I need to return these :)

  • I don't think there is anc, just passive

  • +1

    Yes these are expensive.

But for someone struggles to get to sleep these have been amazing. I wont write life-changing as that is a bit dramatic. Been using them for 2 months now. They help me switch my brain off at night from thinking about bargains, uni and work. Even if you are a side sleeper you dont feel them. Just like darque sometimes I wake up and one is missing. It is somewhere in the bed.

Love the alarm feature that only I hear. Good when I have to get up earlier than my partner.

With the Bose 30 day guarantee give them a try.

  • I would suggest against buying from this seller. Bought something from them on the 19th and so far it still hasn't been shipped out.

    • Have dealt with Video Pro quite frequently, especially with Bose products and never had an issue. Perhaps try contacting them?

  • +1

I got one of these and they work great for me, as I have all kinds of sleeping problems. I used to sleep with ear plugs but my tinnitus would keep me awake sometimes and I couldn't hear things like my alarm. However these block out enough noise to ensure I get a good night sleep but letting enough noise through that I can still hear my alarm ringing next to me. And the sounds played over my tinnitus so I won't hear the ringing but they are soft enough to let me sleep.

I understand that these will not be for everybody but the only way to find out is to try.

    • Hi mister, I have tinnitus as well, just wanna comifirm it does improve sleep? you know with tinnitus we all more or less have sleep issue.Thank you

      • It did improve my sleep quite a bit, in particular with that ringing that would sometimes keep me from from falling into that deep sleep. But it is by no means a cure. There are many factors that affect our quality of sleep, such as diet and stress. I also have other sleep problems like sleep apnea that can also affect me some nights.
So keep in mind that there may be other things that make you lose sleep quality.

  • Damn… this is very tempting. I've already been listening to ASMR before going to sleep.

  • +1

They've been $300 for a while on Amazon plus the 12% cashback that has been available lately so the price isn't anything too special

    • They're $379 on Amazon at the moment

      • Ah I last checked a couple of days ago and they had been $300 for the month before, even at $260 I couldn't see the deal

        • Yeah they're crazy expensive. I'd like to get a pair, but just can't justify it.

          • @iMacca: Same here, maybe $150-200 tops especially considering they are so limited and can't even play music

    • Should have posted the deal!

  • Really curious to try them but it's hard to justify the price when they're more expensive than my regular headphones. Any cheaper alternatives recommended?

  • I bought these a few days at @ $303 from Amazon AU with 12% cashback. It was marked as out of stock and delivery by Feb 2019 which is probably why the lower than usual price. I enquired with Amazon on when stock is likely to arrive and was told there is no ETA but they offered to upgrade delivery to express. Today its marked as shipped and arriving on Monday! It also has a 30 days free trial from Bose. So I am keen to try it out. Reviews online have been overwhelmingly positive. And frankly, good nights sleep is priceless!

    • I noticed the 30 day guarantee is only on Bose' website aka. if you buy from them direct, was there something similar posted on the Amazon listing? I can't see anything about this 30-day guarantee on the eBay listing from Videopro, so I'm not sure if it's retailer specific.

EDIT: Yeah, just checked myself - the Amazon listing does say 30-day guarantee, since I guess it is with Bose directly, just through Amazon. Don't think Videopro offers the same guarantee.

      • +1

If they are an authorised reseller then the 30 day thing does apply to them. The Bose website lists authorised resellers. The offer/promo ends on 31st December though.

  • These are at Amazon for $303 again and 10% cashback at shopback atm

    • $379 at Amazon AU at the moment

      • The price keeps changing for some reason

  • Playing sounds doesn't make me fall asleep it wakes me up!
I buy Hearos Xtreme ear plugs. Those things block out crazy amounts of noise.

  • Each to their own, but I paid less than half the price of this to see an audiologist and have custom sleeping ear plugs moulded. Fit perfectly, totally comfortable and block out an incredible amount of noise.
