Global Kitchen Knives

With Christmas around the corner i was looking at getting a set of kitchen knives as a present.
The Global Ikasu block set looks like it has some pretty good reviews here. With the ebay sale at 20% off there's a few block sets around the $300 mark.
I can't decide between the Ikasu, Katana or Millenium - Leaning towards the Ikasu though. It seems like it is the most popular.

Anyone care to share some reviews if they've gone through this same choice of knives/decision?

    i had a look through those but not many have a comparison between the sets. I did see quite a lot of people mention the bread knife is used quite often so i think i'll go with the ikasu. thanks :)

  As above whole family have the ikasu ones. Knives are excellent. Like links postage above can buy better than $300. Often on special through ebay. Follow ozbargain or when can get 20% off with ozbargain kitchen stores.

  I believe they're the updated design or a newer range than the "standard".

  I've only had them for a few months, but they're awesome. I paid $360 when there was an eBay sale.

  Some people have commented that it feels "weird" because of the weighting (it feels quite light compared to normal knives, but also quite balanced). Think it's personal preference whether you prefer to hold a lighter or heavier knife.

  i have had the ikasu set for about 5 years now and they are amazing. they get used continuously through out the day (big asian family) and have had no problems with them. we also have a "chefs choice asian knife sharpener" which has kept them as sharp or sharper than the day i bought them. i can see this set lasting us at least another 10+ years.
