CX5 Turbo Vs CRV Vs Rav4 2019

My car has just been written off and i have 35k to spend on a car. im not in a rush to buy a car but i have test driven the current cx5 (non turbo), CRV and the current RAV 4 and based on all that, i love the crv but i just read about the new cx5 turbo that just came out and am interested in that as the non turbo version lacks any power. im not sure if i should wait for the rav4 to come out or get the turbo version or just go with the crv. i love the CX5 turbo GT but i think i would like to have the 360 camera feature which means i have to get the top line AKera which is like 10k more. Thoughts?

    Thoughts?

    You can't afford it.

Agree, you can't afford it. CX-5 turbo will come in the high end models I'm afraid.

    • i can get the G%T which is like 42k but just have to get it without the 360 camera

2019 rav isn't due till may

    • i can wait but with crv they have a 7 yr warranty and 7 yr road side assistance currently which is a great deal but by the time the Rav4 arrives, they wont have that special anymore

It's 6 months away, deals will change between both models multiple times over.

Turbo cx5 will probably need to run on 95 or 98 fuel, not worth it.

The Mazda 6 has the same engine and uses regular

      • Is the standard mazda 6 running the same compression with a turbo?

Do your own research, I've already given mine.

  • Try Xtrail - cheaper and has 360 deg camera

    • agreeed but it looks ugly and outdated

      • I came here to say X-trail as well. Have always thought they were superior to Rav4 or CRV. Looks is a personal opinion thing tho so if you don't like the look then I guess don't bother. Personally I hate the look of CRVs and Rav4s.

Pretty sure $35k gets you base models or slightly better on these, you won't be getting a turbo one.

  • Honda has a good promotion at the moment with 7 years warranty and roadside assist

    • +1

And 6 months maintenance interval for 7 years…. no thank you.

      • if only honda gave a 360 camera, i would buy. wonder if you can buy from ebay a 360 camera and get someone to install it. might be a cheaper option

        • +1

Why do you need the 360 camera for?

          • +2

@John Kimble: This, pretty sure people have been driving for decades with no 360 degree camera. If you turn your head and/or use your mirrors you can see 360 degrees.

Honestly can't believe someone would buy a car for this.

          • +1

@John Kimble: It helps with parking 50mm from an object. I still do, but have to reverse in.

      • It's 12 months intervals now

        • On the Jazz as well? Might be able to convince them we don't need a bloody oil change every 6 months…

          • @miicah: Dunno about the Jazz, just talking about the latest CRV.

  • noone likes the cRV?

    • +1

      nope.

    • I have the 2018 7 seater. It's ok. You get some good features for your money I suppose, but I don't get Honda Sensing.

You won't get Honda Sensing for $35k.

  • Would you consider test driving a Subaru Forester?

  • Go the series2 Kia Sportage SLI turbo diesel AWD - 7 yr warranty.

  • +3
    • Honda Sensing on all variants from 2019 onwards apparently…

    • Interesting that Forester got the wooden spoon, despite having most safety features.

Just proves that it's up to the buyer to determine their priorities and wants/needs, rather than choosing to buy based off reviews.

    • what about the 30k outlander with 7 seats

      • not after 7 seater car

  • Own & love my crv. These are my reasons.
7 years warranty + premium roadside asst
    Android auto /car play
    Plenty usb port
1.5 vtec turbo - save fuel
    Blind spot camera
    Digital dash

    • What's your average fuel consumption? Mine's about 11L per 100kms…but live in a hilly area. Can get down to 6 to 7 on the highway.

      • Live around the cost.Roughly 9L per 100kms..

        • +1

Lol and that's saving fuel how? That's shocking!

  • Doesnt the current CRV have the engine oil absorbing water problem? Google it, issue seems to be pretty widespread.

    • from what i read, it only happens in extreme cold weather conditions so Australia should be ok
