  • Been looking for a high capacity powerbank to charge my Samsung s7 edge, and also my e-cig/vape for an upcoming festival. Is this a better option than the Xiaomi Power Bank 20000 2C for $34.99 on Amazon?

    • +5

This one uses Lithium Ion Batteries, while Xiaomi uses Lithium Polymer Batteries.

It makes the Anker a lot more heavier.

Also Anker doesn't support Qualcomm Quick Charge, so won't Fast Charge your Samsung S7 Edge.

At this price point, I would go for the Xiaomi.

        that's some pro review

Thanks for the insight, will the Xiaomi fast charge the Samsung S7 or will I need to fork out a lot more money for that feature? I seem to be getting confused by the different terminologies such a fast charge, quick charge, and power delivery.

        • +1

The Xiaomi 20000 Power Bank, will fast charge your Samsung S7 if only 1 Port is used. If you plug in two devices into the Power Bank, it will only charge at normal speed.

Fast Charge and Quick Charge are generally the same thing, just labeled different. Power Delivery is the charging protocol for USB-C, which allows for higher power transfer.

            @RichardL:

Fast Charge and Quick Charge are generally the same thing

Quickcharge is a propietary Qualcomm protocol that requires a Qualcomm Soc to be used

Presumably Fast Charge is a generic or Anker name for something to do with charging that I'm unaware of. It may be similar to VoltIQ which Tronsmart products carry. VoltIQ is much slower than Qualcomm Quickcharge.

          • @RichardL: So it sounds like the Xiaomi has this Anker beat in all aspects then. There must be some sort of trade off? Does the Anker do anything better or is it just coming down to branding at this stage?

            • +1

@Wildozer: Only branding with this model of the Anker Power Bank.

    • WFF?

  • is this good for nintendo switch ?

    • No if you want to be able to play the switch while plugged into the powerbank. You would want one with power delivery.

      • is that the PowerCore+?

        • +1

          You'll need the PowerCore+ PD

      • PD is not required to charge and play. It might be a slower charge but as long as its greater than zero, you won't run out of juice while playing.

  • Can this be used on the plane?

    • You're not supposed to.

There should be a charging port on the seat in front of you.
