    • Bugger

    • Any way to get cheap gift cards?

  • Still stock around me. Should I get one

They're no longer manufactured and the only type of 3DS that supports faceplates.

      • Nostalgia value/ collectable?

Do they still support currents games coming out?

        • +1

Depends on the person. Faceplates are definitely collectable and this is the only type of 3DS that supports them.

It's the New model. There's both New and Old models, Old ones being the ones that don't have 'New' in their name. The New models (including this one) support every 3DS game released.

      • The faceplates are bloody expensive to buy now though

      • Some would argue that overall games are getting worse.
And new games are certainly getting more grindy and time wasting with the need to add time saving micro transactions.

My favourite games are still on my sega.
So age has nothing to do with game play for sure.
I do miss my gameboy colour though…

      • lol, i only play last gen games, why the hell would you want to pay top dollar for games.

      • +1

i still play my b&w gameboy. which makes it last last last last last gen

    • I was trying to decide the same thing. But realistically, I probably would never play it now that I have a Switch, which I play almost exclusively in handheld mode these days. As much as I'd love to play AC again, my pile of shame is too long on the Switch alone, not even considering the stuff on PS4/XBOne which I haven't even touched except when RDR2 came out. I'd SAVE $118 by not caving to impulse and buying it.

Honestly, it depends what type of gamer you are. If you're a fan of 'cutsey' games, and jrpgs and such, a 3DS is a great buy. Pokemon, Zelda, Mario, Yokai, Dragon Quest, Animal Crossing etc, are all solid titles. If you like cute design stuff, there is the Style Boutique games, Cooking Mama, Happy Home designer… etc. There's also puzzle stuff, dungeon crawlers… They have an awesome selection, honestly, though it isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Secondly, I travel about once a year and I find my 3ds invaluable for long-haul flights. There's enough games to keep me interested, and I prefer the size and portability of it to the Switch— 3ds can literally fit in my pocket. Now that it can be charged on the plane it's even better. But I will say that the hinge glitched on mine after about 2 or so years of use, and I had to get another, so there's that. :\

If you are interested in the games, but don't really care about portability, travel, or 3d, you could just get a Switch, which will soon get way more titles I imagine, or you could get a 2DS flat one instead, or a 3ds XL. I imagine those will go down in price soon.

      • Best selection of games hey. This is way cheaper than a 2ds at the moment though.

  • nothing in brisbane

  • Worth if upgrading from old 3ds xl?

Personally I would save the money, and get a Nintendo Switch.

Switch? WRONG , a 3DS can be hacked for free games, Has a better agme libary and has 3D , its much better then switch

        • a 3DS can be hacked for free games

I don't condone piracy, but the same can be done on a Nintendo Switch.

          Has a better game libary

The upcoming games on the 3DS has slowed down with the release of Switch. Also the library for the Nintendo Switch isn't complete yet.

      Depends on the person.

The resolution is still the same, it runs faster and has a smaller screen. Probably worth it for Xenoblade Chronicles 3D alone though, imo, or if you want to run roms or other homebrew etc. You can also set all games to take advantage of the full processor power if you're modded, rather than it downclocking. This makes some games run noticeably faster, like Pokemon.

  • 3DS XL phased out? they definitely want to kill it to help the switch transition

    • +1

Yes, but unrelated to this deal. The "New" 3DS (non-XL) was dead in the water before the switch came out. Just been a shit tonne of happy home maker bundles out there. Haven't seen an original plain white for a year or two, and an original plain black for ever longer. I love them, have all three.

      • +2

I love my new 3ds. I like it’s small form factor.

        • I feel like it's going to be the last truly portable console, and I am going to lament it's departure. Even in it's own generation, the 3DS XL and the Vita were too big to carry around in a pocket, where as the regualar sized one was perfect.

    • +1

3DS XL was phased out ages ago. The New 3DS XL is also in it's twilight right now, if not discontinued. The only one they're producing is the New 2DS XL it seems.

      • i actually like the look of the 2ds, lookds like a kids toy

  • +1

    Got one. Thanks OP!

  • animal crossing home designer -> Mild Violence. My imagination is running wild…

    • I have played it and have no idea what it could be referring to? There’s nothing remotely violent about anything villagers do
