But i'm travelling to america over December and am curious as most travel sims i've seen are about $40, whereas i can get a kogan sim on sale for use here for under $1 On Sale, is there a Kogan simcard equivalent for USA, before i go shelling out on a travel sim
Just get a Lycamobile SIM from Amazon. Unlimited calls, texts and data for a month for US$10.99 plus tax/shipping. Have it shipped to the nearest Amazon locker from the airport or just the hotel you're staying at. Sign up for a Prime trial for $1.something and you get two-day shipping too.

Google Fi. You can suspend it when you don't need it and keep it for any future travels you have. I can refer you if you PM me and you'll get some sign up credit in addition to whatever promotions they are currently running.
I don't know what comes with the Kogan deal but I assume just a bare SIM, as with the $2 SIM

For $40 in the USA deal you're getting unlimited calls, texts and a data allowance, usually 4 or 5 Gb. This T-Mobile card also includes calls and texts home to Oz in this deal

Note that the current price of this deal is A$55 but sale specials at lower prices do come around. I bought this deal for a trip starting in a week to Colorado after many satisfactory experiences with T-Mobile in the USA in the last ten years.
