obviously, just going off rrp logitech website, anyway never seen them at $75 before
very cheap, i think ill get this since i missed out on the G933.
i went for this about an hour ago…. https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B07FZVXS8H/ref=oh_aui_d…
SteelSeries Arctis 7 (2019 Edition)
No RGB…
Are the prices comparable though? I'm not sure if you found a discount but the arctis is like double.
It's gotten pretty average reviews though… Otherwise would be tempted.
I got these other the wireless version and they are pretty good tbh.
Does the Wireless work with windows?
Works very well… they're excellent overall Gaming headphones for what I paid ($120)… don't waste your time with virual 7.1 it's a Gimmick… but the sound quality in 2.0 —- I'm very happy (for Gaming and music)
The microphone is fine, but the wired equivalent of this (the Logitech G433) kills it with it's Microphone… but this owns in the sound quality department.
For $75… Bloody hell, I'd buy another pair right now if they weren't sold out.
Really enjoying the 10-12 hours battery life!
@Epyc: Damn I missed!! I’ll re check before Xmas, maybe I’ll be lucky!!
Been using these for 2 yars now, no complaints besides the microphone, picks up a lot of background noise.
Surely the software includes a gate function …
Thanks OP, bought one. I think this is the best price for a 7.1 headset.
Keep the receipt. I have had to return two of these (G933 version) because the microphone would start crackling and cutting out after about a year. You can still warranty return though.
I will do, thanks for heads up.
I had to do with one pair but the seconds been fine (also g933), same reason as above
Thanks, I dont thinks its very reliable for gaming, but nice gift idea for christmas.
I reckon Cloud ii's are better
The Cloud 2's are better.
my mic on the cloud 2 is too silent and because I use the usb sound card it comes with, theres nothing I can do to adjust it.
Except use the mic volume buttons on the sound card???
@AusNugz: Or turn the mic up in audio properties …
Unfortunately Windows still has the problem from 1996 of adjusting microphone levels all by itself and not allowing you to reset them so that's fun.
@AusNugz: pressing the mic volume buttons on the sound card doesn't do anything for me, it might be faulty, tried to upgrade firmware also.
@needmorecash: I've always had same problem and mic volume in settings is greyed out.
I have had the Cloud II's for about 2 years now, and have mostly used an external mic because I had the same issue where the II's mic is super low. Since my external mic broke, before looking for another headset, I decided to do some research to see if there was anything I could do about the mic volume. Theres an open source program I use called Equaliser APO that does exactly what I want it to. Might have to look up a YouTube video on how to set it up.
'Adjustable lighting up to 16.8 million colors'
WTactualF?
8 bits per colour. 2 to the power of 8 is 256.
256 x 256 x 256 is 16.8 million.I'd love to know how many can actually be distinguished.
Nothing spesh, every manufacturer using RGB throws this tagline in
This vs HyperX Cloud Alpha?
Nothing beats the Alpha. Good luck finding a cheap pair though.
The Alpha deal is out of stock though
Probably barely even worth $75.
7.1 is pointless.
Use any standard headphones and give this a try: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUDTlvagjJAThat video is binaural audio though (created with two mics). Game audio design is usually not binaural so depending on the game audio design, VSS can provide better spatial immersion compared to standard stereo if using a decent DAC/amp.
What is the difference between 7.1 headphones such as this, and software options such as Windows Sonic or Dolby Atmos for headphones?
Is there actually 8 drivers / speakers in these headphones?
Windows Sonic and Dolby Atmos for Headphones is the name of two different virtual surround sound algorithms (or software that creates the surround effect).
Virtual surround depends on the users ear shape to work which means not all algorithms typically work for all people. This also means many people conclude that virtual surround doesn't work when in fact the algorithm they tried works for others but not them and another typically will work.
You can find one that works for you: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/6rye2h/guide_…
Any stereo headphones can create virtual surround effects. Sometimes people incorrectly refer to stereo headphones as 7.1 because they can process 7.1 surround sound into binaural virtual surround sound.
There is such a thing as "true" 5.1 (or 7.1?) headphones that have multiple speakers for each surround channel. These cannot do virtual surround because they're not stereo. From what I gather virtual surround on stereo is superior to true 5.1 headphones.
@Diji1: So do these headphones actually have 8 drivers/speakers in them? Since they are 7.1 headphones? It's not an on-board software solution?
Your confusing things.
Game surround sound is mixed to virtual surround, which is binaural, when it's played through a headphone playback device.
DAC and amp is irrelevant.
Isn’t that HRTF, not binaural?

https://www.whathifi.com/advice/binaural-audio-what-it-how-c…
And when I said DAC/amp, I meant the surround sound processor. Is every processor for the same technology (Dolby/Sonic/Atmos/DTS:X) the same or are there variances?
In any case, I prefer VSS to stereo, but I’m definitely still learning here. :)
@ShortyX: Another link I need to read through - https://www.reddit.com/r/PUBATTLEGROUNDS/comments/776d15/a_c…
Actually, another question - I use a Turtle Beach DSS2 (amp/dac) connected via optical and it has an inbuilt Dolby processor, but you can turn off the processing.
There is an option to either output Atmos over optical (so Xbox is doing the processing internally) or bitstream out with Dolby Digital. When Dolby Digital bitstream is selected, I'm assuming the Dolby processor knows what to do with the signal coming in.
But if Atmos is selected and the Dolby processing turned off on the DSS2, would it actually just be stereo since the processor doesn't touch it, ie is the Xbox outputting the Atmos signal mixed to a stereo signal and the DSS2 is just passing that on?
I was thinking of posting this on the weekend as i bought one, seemed like a good price.
thank you OP. was looking for a headset for my XB1 and perfect timing imo.
I bought a pair of these a few months ago.
The sound quality is by far the best i've heard on headphones - but i'm not an audiophile and I guess i've not tried that many headphones.
They did feel a little tight on my head, but not so much anymore.
They are great, BUT the microphone sucks. Well to be fair, i've only tested it once or twice, but the feedback was that it's not good.
Also, because the ear cups enclose the ear you can't hear yourself talk - although there is some software thing to help with that but I couldn't get it to work well enough.
So for listening these headphones are great at this price. If you're hoping to use the microphone then maybe they're not.
I use Logitech H800 for listening and my microphone. Can be bought for $80 at JB Hifi (not sure of current price). These are more simple headphones, but with a good mic. Audio is good but not great like the G633. Problem with the H800 is they will die after 1 to 2 years of heavy use. I've bought 5 of them.
How do the H800s normally fail? They've always been on my "do i need these?" list.
Tempting… if there was a decent deal on the G933 I'd be all over it. Think I'll have to source a new battery for my G930 instead. Not sure I can go back to full time wired.
Yea my g930s are getting well old, on my 3rd battery. Ear cups are completely deteriorated…
RGB
7.1my brother bought these and they were trash. You get 7 crappy drivers(speakers) instead of 1 good one. The build quality was also plastic and gimmicky. Do yourself a favour and get some dt770's instead
Wow 7.1 in a headset…I definitely need to upgrade my ear from 2.0 to keep up with this new technology….
RRP more like 150-170
