Had one of the below. Did it's last leg when my kid smashed the daylights outta it during playtime.

Does your child use one? If so, what is it? 3G or 4G? Where did u get it and how much was it? What features compelled you to purchase it as opposed to other brands/ models?

  • I hired a Tic Toc Track watch for a trip to Europe last year. I got one with an international SIM but in the whole 3 weeks it worked once for about 10min. I contacted support multiple times and tried troubleshooting with them but in the end gave up. The company was good about it and I got a refund (when I asked for one), but based on that experience I won’t be trying that brand again.

  • one more cheap option is about the ujsing of any cheap android smartphone, register a gmail account & install the Google Mpa in that kid's smartphopne, then, TRUST his google account & yopur google account, then, it can real-time update the location of the kid too of each other.

    • you mean this

        yes, it is.!
due to it's with a smartphone + its SIM, when any nearby pr crowd enviropnment, it can still use the phone call to sharply locate the kid.

        • its a good idea, thanks. not sure if i want to give an actual phone but its an alternative.

    Hi all,
I’m a father and my son is just over one year old. Not long ago someone asked about keeping an eye on him etc when he’s older and making sure he’s ok at all times. They had suggested a gps tool/tracking app on his bag or attached to his clothes in the slim chance you could track him if disappeared . I know it’s nearly next to impossible, but I’d be interested if anyone else has done something like this. Perhaps a Bluetooth type tracker or gps tracker like a tile?

I know this may not be popular among some people and I’ll be told ‘keep an eye on him’, ‘you’re a bad parent’, ‘back in my day we didn’t need a tracker, all we had was a whistle and we liked it!’

Anyway, keen to hear what people say :)

Arkangel has a pretty good product, I've heard.

      • Lol black mirror yeah? Haven’t seen that one yet. Maybe it will dissuade me from this in the future :)

    • He’s one year old and you’re looking for a tracker for him. Wow.

      • Yeah maybe for when he’s older. Call me stupid but sometimes I’d rather be safe than sorry if something bad was to happen to him.

    • Considering how fast tech changes don’t you think it’s a bit early to be researching this?

Funnily enough I was thinking the same today for my son who will start walking to school for the first time this year (when schools open). He is grade 4 and has just turned 9. Till now we lived too far away from school; so he had to be dropped off and picked up. Call it parent's anxiety or whatever; I had the same thought - maybe I should just put a tracker in his bag so that if something were to happen in the 1KM walk from school to home….

      • Not hard to put a pre-paid phone in his bag with gps tracking. Gives him peace of mind if he spots something dodgy

    • At 1yo? Worry less…

    • Check out Spacetalk watches - I was recommended this by a friend.
Only thing is that it's targeted at 5-12 year olds

      • And has a monthly subscription cost. Screw that

        • Yeah I’ve seen a few that are monthly subscriptions.

    • Apple are rumoured to be coming out with an AirTag unit possibly for this kind of use case. Likely to be proximity based only if it's via Bluetooth but there might be a possibility to be tracked remotely too. Keep an eye on that next few months.
