Best value and ease of porting

My 365 Kogan plan expires early February next year.

Porting between Catch Connect and Kogan 90-day plans next year seems like an option. However, I have mobile plan with data as my only home internet option. I don't want to be stuck for many days without access to telecommunications.

Firstly, could this be avoided by ensuring I initiate port at least 10 days before the plan expiry? My understanding is that I will not lose service from the first carrier until my number has successfully ported, provided that my "initial" plan has not yet expired. Is this right?

Secondly, do you have any other examples of porting between carriers to balance best value with convenience or ease of porting? My worry with porting month-to-month is that I could be lost without service as 30-day plans will need to expire before I am again considered a "new customer" to either carrier.

Thank you!

You can port out your number on the day right after the current plan expires. You number is still active for at least 30 days (just no credit) in the current provider from the day on which the plan expires. In other words, you may not port out the number till the day you need to use the outgoing service. Before that, you can still answer incoming calls and receive messages, not any outgoing activities.

    FYI - Don't port on a weekend.
