Harmony Fabric Managers Chair - Only $39 at Officeworks (Was $59) ! Australia Wide!

312

Hey guys!

Here is a pretty decent office chair for $39! It was $59 but they dropped the price.

I tried the chair out today and it wasn't too bad for what your paying for. I think its got a good lower back support, which alot of people like, and is well padded where the head rests. Obviously not the best chair out there but at least you still get 12 months warranty and all.

HOWEVER, i do recommend you try the chair out in-store before you buy it as taste and preference will vary between each individual.

I guess if your on a real tight budget (being a student, small business or recently affected by recents etc) then this chair might suit you better.

Consider all the other fabric chairs they have for around the same price, it is definitely the cheapest and bang-for-your-buck.

the Next cheapest one the sell is the Wilshire chair for $49 (http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Furniture/Chaiā€¦), which i think looks really crap and flimsy compared to the Harmony.

Enjoy! :)

Do they give free home delivery ?

    • -8

Do you ever leave your house?

      • -5

Oh come on people. Almost every comment she makes ends with "Do they give free home delivery?"
Seems odd as well, as my powers of deduction leads me to believe she probably has a car.

      • Ha neg for that is a bit harsh. I lol'd so +

      • +6

I guess, given we are being brutally honest here, the question could equally be asked of yourself. You seemed to have posted an incredible number of comments for someone who has only been registered for 5 months.

        • -5

I work in an environment where I'm there 4 nights a week for 12 hours "just in case" something goes wrong.

          u jelly?

EDIT: EDIT: Also, my average works out to less than 10 comments a day. Even at an extraordinarily blown out rate of 3 minutes per comment, that's only half an hour a day.

      • ha..you stalking her Ashlea?

But In all seriousness we don't know if Stella has problems with transport or not being able to move :|
SO i think it is valid point to ask for free delivery.

@elguapo You seemed to have done only 8 posts since 2008 while She started 5 months ago and has posted 30, I'm just saying ;)
No need to justify anything since this is a public forum, post as much as you want except spam.
Although I miss the "COME AT ME BRO" guy

      • .

      • -1

I miss him too. :( and yes, I'm an avid stalker. :P

      • Hahahaha I'm so loved.

    • it does say "Order $26.00 more for FREE delivery "… but it hasn't removed the delivery charge. I believe handling fee still applies (both about $5)

  • The pic here is misleading

  • +1

    Why is the pic misleading?

  • I hope you're right about the lower back support. ie. I hope the back doesn't come back more than 90 degrees (like my current OW chair) because my back really hurts when I have to support myself while sitting forward.

I'm gonna order one now and possibly another if it's good. Thanks mr_vino89.

  • -2

$5 handling fee is a bit rich

    • I assume lots of people are negging this guy because they think he is being sarcastic that the postage is $5. But there is a separate $5 handling fee to bring the postage cost to $10 which is pretty bullshit on OW's behalf. Even if you pick it up in store it's a $5 fee.

      • +2

        only if you reserve it
if you are going to go in store, call beforehand and ask for stock levels

        I mean $10 P&H is okay for a chair that weighs 5-10 kg +..right?

      • why would it be a $5 fee for picking it up from store……? if the item is there, you just grab it and go…

        • its a $5 handling fee if you order online and do pick up
They charge you for keeping the item aside so no one else can buy it

I would only do it if I knew they had an amazing( super) sale going on and reserving it would mean I would definitely be able to get it.

        • suppose so…. u can always just call them up directly and ask them to put one a side for you and therefore you won't incur the $5 fee :)

    • -2

I am going to take back my -ve as they delivered it the same day I ordered it. Not bad :P

  • Are these available in store or do you have to order online?

    • in-store and online :)

  • These are available in store for the same price if you're willing to pick them up.

I am sorry to vote negative. I bought this same item a year or so ago for like 89 dollars. Within days I felt like I was sitting on wood. Cushion is really bad on this one.

    • +3

Thanks for the feedback. Will give it a miss then

    • +4

For me it took longer than days - a few months maybe - but I can say the same happens with OfficeWorks' Birkdale and Rio Deluxe chairs, and someone reported the same about the OfficeWorks Milan chair in a forum discussion about office chairs I was reading earlier this week.

Seems to be a common thread with OfficeWorks chairs. Don't let the super-comfiness when you're trying them in store fool you.

    • maybe your ass is real big and needs something more substantial to sit on?
i'd sit on a milk crate, don't care about comfort.

    • I bought a $250 chair from office works.
broke 4 times, replaced each time (yup!)

never buying a chair from them again.

    • +1

Not neg. worthy imho. The negative tool is there to discourage the value of a deal on ozbargain, not to provide feedback on your experience with the product. $39 for this chair is a BARGAIN.

  • +2

We have these at my work and they very quickly started falling apart (cracking arm rests, torn fabric).

  • +2

Probably not the right forum for this, but I was seriously considering an Aeron chair or similar… has anyone got any experience on those and whether they truly are worth the $1K?

    • +1

I would definitely invest in a good comfortable chair. I have one I bought as a second from a company I worked for as they were renovating. Originally costed them $600-700 and to this date it is my favourite and the cushion survived the years. So I vote yes to putting your a$$ on a quality chair.

      • +2

Seriously? $700? I mean, do you sleep with it or something?

        • Good one fm :)

But seriously, most chairs in big companies cost that much. They don't look it at all, but the build is quiet good and they last and last. They usually have multiple level adjustments for the height, back. And after a whole work day (if you work in the office) your a$$ doesn't feel strange to you :)

        • +1

If you work (or just do stuff on the computer for a good % of the day), to the point where you spend a similar amount of time sitting down each day as you do sleeping in bed then I suppose it sort of makes more sense to spend a bit of money on the most used computer hardware :)

I strongly recommend go instore to try before purchasing. The pic is somehow misleading. I don't have this chair but I went to OW many times, they look not as good as the ones in the picture.

  • +2

I was actually after one of these the other day. I'm so glad I waited as it's saved me 20 bucks. Whilst I know there are definitely better quality chairs out there in the market I've actually had a good run with an officeworks chair in the past. To be fair I'm lighter than a feather which may have something to do with it.

    • Despite my alias, I'm actually under 60 kilos and the padding still flattened on the models I mentioned before.

I am however sitting on an Officeworks-purchased chair now which is 8 years old and still comfy. It's a standard ergonomic chair (not an "executive" one) which cost $250, is AFRDI-rated and was made in Australia. I believe they still stock some resilient chairs but they're the higher priced AFRDI-rated ones with a 5 year warranty. When they started selling high-back managers chairs for under $200 then under $100, I guess something had to give.

      • Thanks for this info. I won't be buying then either. As a skinny dude i needed a definitive answer on this chair, because a fat person has different needs with their support, padding, comfort, etc.

Just drove 20 mins down to armadale in WA to get one. Easy to assemble, very good back support too.

    +ve to OP

Picked one up today from Castle Hill OW @$39.00. Bought one three months ago from the same store when it was $79.00. No problems so far. While it is quite light, it has good padding and lumbar support. Rated for 120kgs.

Had to register just to comment about these chairs: We bought about 10 of these last year when they were on special and they are terrible. Each single chair has broken - The base of the chair is plastic and you will find that the pressure on the wheels will make the base snap about 10cm in from the end, without fail. Our office manages young students who don't weigh much so its not a question of weight

    • warranty?

  • +1

I really didn't anticipate these being as bad as they were. Didn't end up buying any after I saw the assembled one in store and instead went for a $69 alternative. :)
