Should I Bi-AMP the Yamaha NS-555 front tower speakers on the Pioneer VSX-932 AV Receiver?

Recently purchased the Yamaha NS-555 speaker package I am wondering if the Yamaha NS-555 front tower speakers would benefit in better sound if I bi-amp the front speaker connections?

I have recently only discovered about bi-amping and bi-wiring the speakers. I can sort of see the argument of there is a substantial improvement with the sound quality if you bi-amp the front speakers and I have also read bi-amp only works better if the there are 2 power amps and no difference if a spare unused channel is configured to bi-amp the front speakers.

I will be running the speakers in 5.1 configurations only on the Pioneer VSX-932 AV Receiver.

The Pioneer VSX-932 rated the amp output is 165 W/ch (6 ohms, 1 kHz, THD 10 %, 1ch Driven). I think this is a great exaggeration since the MAX power consumption is 480 Watts, so that's about 68.5 Watts MAX each for the 7 channel.

What are your thoughts and experience with bi-amping the speakers? Unlike bi-wiring the speakers which think it's a bit of a gimmick?

Should I bi-amp these Yamaha NS-555 front speakers and anyone's done it with the Pioneer VSX-932 or similar AV receiver in the price range?

  • Looking At getting the Yamaha NS-555 are they not any good?

  • I have only listened to them once in the store display a couple days ago before I bought it.
The Yamaha speakers were connected to the Yamaha RX-V685 AV Receiver. Apparently Yamaha AV Amps have a very sound processing compare to Pioneer. I thought it sounded really nice. Very rich and sharp tones but the demo was only mp3 via USB HDD.

I have not hook them up yet since I need to disconnect my 15 year old US Audio speakers currently setup with the Pioneer VSX-932, planned to setup my new Yamaha speakers today. I will do some testing and will let you know.
