Multiple Power Adapter

Hey,

So I have been looking everywhere for one of these, ebay doesn't have them, I have tried a few travel shops, but to no avail.

I am after one of those power adapters that can accept any country's power plug in one end, and then plug into any country's power point from the other end.

This is achieved by means of sliding the prongs in and out to be able to plug into any country's power point.

My friend has one, so if it helps, I can take a photo to show what it looks like (no, I have asked him where he got his, but that shop is closed now)

cheers guys

  • Search ebay for "universal plug" and you will find items that meet your description.

    • ahhhh thank you, i was using the wrong key words!!

  • If you don't mind carrying three around, you can get semi-universal adaptors very cheap from HK and presumably the Internet. Each has all the required holes to suit any power plug. So that half is universal. The prongs come in 3 styles: US/Japan, Australia/NZ/China and Europe. For UK/HK/Malaysia, use the Europe prongs. 3 of these are also lighter than the universal adaptor. I've used one of those UA lent to me by a friend. It was very good, but also expensive.

  • Are you referring to this?

  • or this

    • you still here?:p

      • did davo retire or something?

    or this?

  • lol…

wish I could watch that clip, but I'm in a lecture… saving that one for later…

the actual one I was looking for was the one that Davo posted.

and to greenpossum, for just under 7 dollars including postage, I'm not too worried about the UA being too expensive haha :P

    • I actually found that UA rather heavy and took up a lot of room around the power point which can be a problem in tight spaces. That's why I preferred the regional ones. 3 of those cost me only 12HKD IIRC which is less than 2AUD. If only going to one region, I only need take one.

      • That is fairly cheap indeed, but I am going overseas mid year, and I will going going all around Europe, UK, SE Asia, and possibly S. and N. America, that's why I want just one that can be used in all of these. And then if I buy any appliance along the way, I know I will be able to use it anywhere

        • But of course be careful of appliances that are only 230V or 110V. Most power bricks are universal voltage now though.
