How the hell is that worth anywhere near $90??

    • +1

Cause it's made by our amigos!

    • The coffee is Kopi Luwak?

      • Amigos! Lol

        The coffee is Kopi Luwak?

        Kopi Luwak tastes crap !!!

  • Too much sharing for my liking… Although Wifey likes Mexican :)

Those choices are ridiculous and u have to share 1 main course 1 entree and 1 dessert?? That's worth like $30 max IMO

    • It's not compulsory…..

    • I'm confused how this gets a Negative harthagan - it is clearly for two people not one.

      • +2

Gee I guess it's the whole "To Share" thing against the main and desert.
To me it looks like a meal for one, with two entrees… but I can see that's how amigos sells its food, $10 extra for most dishes "To Share".
I would never pay anywhere near $90 for this, otherwise it seems like a good deal compared to their listed prices.

The food there is average at best, the kind of americanised mexican where even the salads are unhealthy.

  • +1

not really into mexican food. dont seem to get much and they charge u an arm and a leg. how is a big corn chip with some meat into a main meal, just beyond me!

    • +1

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks so! Can never justify paying for Mexican.

  • Hey Guys,

Might be a little confusion here!

You get the Fajita's for two normally $37.50 (27.50 is standard, an extra $10 for a two person serve) An Entree of Quesadilas or Taquitos for two people Worth $12

Plus 2 Glasses of Wine, 2 Coffees and A serving of churros and Chocolate for two people making up the rest of the value.

Check out the menu here http://amigos.com.au

It's a very generous serving trust me!

deal is decent enough, restaurant is terrible. (at least the chapel street one)

food was average, took way too long to come out (and it wasn't even busy when we went), and the waitress was absolutely appauling (in both attitude and competence). she took away meals and drinks that weren't finished (and continued to do so even AFTER being told she had done it), and made no apologies.

seriously, worst waitress i have ever come across. (the other waitor was ok, but just a little bit OTT).

    would never go again.

    BUYER BEWARE!

edit: $20 per head is a fair price for what you'll get there. no way is it worth $90.

there seem to be quite a few complaints about poor service if you look up reviews…

      • yeah, from my experience, i would say those reviews are accurate…shows that my experience wasn't just a once off bad day (not that that is an excuse!).

forgot to say that she barked at us for our orders, and then threw the plates down on the table (literally, making a large bang) as she snarled the orders back to us. clearly she did not want to be there. and she shouldn't be!

i actually emailed the company (including the marketing manager for the chain), but got no response. clearly they don't care about service.

as i said before: buyer beware!

if you want similar style food, i would recommend trying Blue Corn in st kilda, Los Amates on johnson st, or Mad Mex on chapel street instead. MUCH better food. or Mamasita in the city, if you want more refined mexican.

  • If only this was for dinner…

Been to Amigos Chapel Street (2 years ago) and the Lygon Street one (4 times) no problems with service and food was good. Caprimulgus, although I sympathise with the bad service you received, good luck finding a restaurant in Carlton or Prahran that serves mains, entrees, wine, coffees and desserts for $20 per person.

Much of it is Tex-Mex (aka things topped with cheese) but some of the dishes are what I would call Mexican. If you are in the Carlton/Fitzroy area, I would try Los Amates, probably the better of the Victorian Mexican restaurants (and authentic).

    • "good luck finding a restaurant in Carlton or Prahran that serves mains, entrees, wine, coffees and desserts for $20 per person."

i didn't say i could find that elsewhere, i just said that it was a fair price! i would rather pay $35 at a much better restaurant for 2 courses, a glass of better wine, and coffee (a deal that is available at many Victorian restaurants during the food & wine festival, and throughout the year).

"If you are in the Carlton/Fitzroy area, I would try Los Amates, probably the better of the Victorian Mexican restaurants (and authentic)."

yeah, i actually just edited my post above to include los amates before i saw your post. agreed!

I don't see $90 value anywhere on that menu.
Better to just head to Taco Bill's 40% off nights.

    • …or use the Entertainment Book… 2 for 1 mains…

  • Rubbish deal. No where close to suggested $90 value - not even close.

  • hahah such shit deal
