  • 1.5L Oval Water Jug RRP $39.95 Now $19.95

so you normally sell these at $39.95 ?????

    • We normally sell at slightly less than RRP. The $39.95 jugs were selling at $34.95 previously. This price is a further $15 reduction.

    • I have updated the link in the full post.

      • How about updating the site to accurately describe the savings?

Quoting RRP when you don't normally sell at RRP is illegal according to the Trade Practices Act…

It is deceiving to the customer because the saving you are advertising is misleading

If the stated RRP is the price set by M&W, then theres nothing illegal I think. If not, then yes.

Edit: M&W official AU website prices for the jugs http://www.maxwellandwilliams.com.au/search.asp?brand=mw&kw=…

        • All RRP prices stated on our site are the Reccomended Retail Price as set by the suppliers

It is illegal to advertise the RRP if you do not normally sell at the RRP…

        • A trader risks breaching the law if it:
makes inaccurate or misleading price comparisons

Comparisons with the recommended retail price (RRP)

Advertising or promotions of 'savings' or 'discounts' on the RRP of goods and services are designed to convince you that you are getting a good deal because the price is less than the RRP.

If traders do not normally price their goods at the RRP, it may be misleading to give you the impression that they do.

yes, and you are breaking the law when you advertise 50% off when in fact it is NOT 50% off your normal selling price…
