I ordered this through EB before the Amazon offer was up and to my surprise today when I went to collect I received the Gold Edition for the same price as the standard!

Anyone know if the extra content is on the catridge? It's not a DLC code or some rubbish is it?
From my quick scan of Reddit it's just a code for the season pass, I don't have my Switch to say what the season pass is worth in the store. I bought gold edition months ago for the daughter and there was no code and it's only now I realised I got dudded.
I'll grab the standard then, I can't stand codes inside physical copies
from a pure numbers perspective, yes it is as the season pass that you get with it is worth $20USD.
having said that, how much the additional content you get with season pass is worth to you is subjective.
imo just go google what you get with gold edition and see if you like it.
Season pass is $30, and hasnt really been discounted.
If you think you will want to play the DLC (with a whole new chapter with Donkey Kong), then the gold edition is definitely worth it.
If you just want to play the base game, then you can save the money and just grab the base game.
Or grab the gold edition, and sell me the DLC code for $11! :P

@hishaken: no idea, but when i posted that it was back in stock 21 minutes ago it had 2 left. i wouldn't be surprised if they'll bring it back in stock again at some point.
