Pretty good deal for amazing shoes. E.g. https://www.theiconic.com.au/dubai-550139.html at $360 are an absolute steal. If you pair these up with good quality shoe trees, they will last a lifetime.

  • Darn, not many sizes available.

I'm looking for super good quality leather dress shoes that last forever.

    Any suggestions?

Check this guide from Reddit for some nice shoes with prices in different USD tiers:

Within Australia you won't find any the closes would be R.M. Williams but they specialise in the Chelsea.

I would recommend Allen Edmonds but you will need to get fitted on a brannock device. You can find them for a very good price if you wait for a sale which they have constantly. Another option is their "factory seconds" on shoebank, great deals to be had as it is normally some small nick on the heel or some cosmetic thing.

Also how long shoes last will depend on how well you take care of them. Conditioning the leather every now and then, cleaning dirt/grime every few months as well as investing in a decent cedar shoe tree is a must need.

      • Good post. Have been incredibly disappointed in my RMs though (Comfort Craftsman). I’ve had tears in the leather on the toe and they crease heavily compared to my Crockett and Jones shoes, and that’s alway using shoe trees. If you look in forums the tears are quite common and RMW weren’t willing or able to do anything about it. All within a year. They’re now only worn to work when it’s raining.

My advice to anyone considering RMs: save up for an English made pair of shoes instead. $600 for a pair of C&Js, or if you can’t, go for one of the brands mentioned above.

      • Does shoebank ship to Australia?

They may have been crafting shoes since the 1800s but it seems that they've failed to move with the times. Apart from the Dubai they are all seriously ugly.
