For me the main reason will be the excess of car rental, the insurance from car rental is very expensive, the other will be the delay or cancelled flight if you fly with jetstar or tiger.
It’s fairly useless. Even for a onight stranding they (airline) will usually put u up in a hotel. Then there is the excess.
Luckily in this country the next flight is usually within the hour or a few hours if one is cancelled.
My recent flight SYD-MEL 6pm was cancelled. They put me on the 615pm flight. Even my last Tiger cancellation the next flight was only an hour away.
I've had a 12-month plan that covered domestic travel. Was useful when I dropped my phone and cracked my screen while I was on holiday.
So, this deal expires on the 31st of August 2019.
Australia Post also have "Special" exchange rates on USD, CAD, EUR, GBP and JPY when you order online or in-store at one of 3,200 participating Post Offices, which also expires on the 31st of August 2019 (I put the "Special" in quotation marks because I looked pretty much everywhere, and I couldn't find an explanation of what they mean by that).
If you decide to buy foreign exchange, you really should thoroughly read the terms and conditions of both Australia Post and the third party, which can be viewed by clicking "order" on the Australia Post page.
A new window should open with all the third party details, charges, etc but note that while the third party charges commission fees, Australia Post doesn't, but they don't clarify this apparent contradiction.
Because while Australia Post says that they don't charge commissions, they also state that customers should read the third party's terms and conditions, because charges made by the third party may be added to their own.
The total price will be shown at the end of the ordering process, but before the order must be confirmed to process the purchase.
Never understood the point of domestic travel insurance
