I've been a huge fan of the LG V20 in the 2 odd years of ownership but there are 2 things I didn't like that stood out.

Difficult to root - so much LG bloat and LG don't care about updates.
My V20 overheated far too easily, winter is a godsend.

I'd hope the G7 addresses these problems but I'm not convinced it does.

I'll miss Lg's cameras the most. LG falls short of the big flagship phones which drops it into the chinese phone space which I feel it comes off second best again unless cameras and perhaps warranty is important. My 2c, I don't mean for it to be overly negative.

I got G7 mainly for it's audiophile DAC/Amp. Easily the phone with best audio quality can can compete with DAP in price range of $500 - $1000

      • Oh yeah I forgot about the DAC. Valid point, they dominate for sound quality. Though in my case I never had the gear to benefit from that.

      • I have a pioneer xdp-300r DAP, cost around $550. Have you had any experience with these? Would like to know the comparison. Thinking of simplifying my set up.only problem is the xdp-300 had two micro SD card slots, currently with 2x 400gb. This would be a problem for me with the phone set up

      • Wish more phones had decent audio quality. However this is moot if you use bluetooth, right?

This phone is fine with AU mobile frequencies, but just putting this out there in case anyone plans to travel to USA anytime soon with this phone:

If the model # is correct as per eBay listing, then there's a good chance you'll have pretty non-existant/poor 4G (let alone even 3G/2G) data coverage in general because the common USA frequency bands 2, 4 & 12 aren't supported by this phone

    LM-G710EMW / Supported Frequencies:
    LTE band 1(2100), 3(1800), 5(850), 7(2600), 8(900), 28(700), 38(2600), 39(1900), 40(2300), 41(2500) - G710EMW

Only realised this when I took along a LG V30+ (H930DS) recently to USA which didn't support the above 2/4/12 frequencies, yet my previous LG V20 (H990DS) did support these USA frequencies

AFAIK, both LG V30+ (H930DS) and LG V20 (H990DS) were sold officially in AU (not as grey imports)

I just find it strange that LG decided to seperate their variants even more so than previously =\

  • i bought one second hand from gumtree a few months ago for $600 (JB Hi Fi stock). For $633 it's a no brainer in my eyes. Great phone with impressive performance and surprisingly good battery life considering the 3000mah cell in here.

  • Has anyone tried to use Google Camera app with this phone?

Good price - pity it's not the G7 Plus version (more RAM and storage) for a bit more - would have to be import stock for that though…

It should be noted that only the black and grey variants are $633 after discount - Blue and Pink work out to $679…

  • Temping but only 4gb ram, $150 for the plus is a bit much.
