Vodafone has had $5 international roaming since at least 2015, it includes all data you would receive on your plan at home (Aus).
Optus has these $10 international roaming packs and it only includes a very stingy 200MB per day.. pretty pathetic!

Really? Seems on par.. except better in the way that it is $5 per day for NZ.. haven't dug too far into it but
Vodafone actually has a key advantage in this area because it has a significant global ownership of many telcos.. unlike Singtel/Optus and Telstra
I dont think others will follow Vodas $5 roaming/day.
Optus don’t seem to be as competitive nowadays. I think Optus closed down Virgin as they couldnt be bothered being competitive.
I would of thought Optus would at least have decent roaming packages in Singapore and India given they own or have large stakes in the largest networks in both those countries.
They also have carriers in other countries aswell, Below is a list of Mobile carriers owned (or part owned) by SingTel (optus owner)
Advanced Info Service Thailand
Bharti Group India
Globe Telecom Philippines
Telkomsel Indonesia
Telecom Egypt & T-Mobile Egypt Egypt
This is what VHA did, they used their partnership with Vodafone PLC (UK company) to negotiate decent roaming, it was so successful that Vodafone UK now offers 5 pound roaming after they copied the model from Australia.
One thing i noticed is Vodafone added $5 roaming to Saudi Arabia recently… cause we were all so upset they didnt have it! :)
I find I use wi-fi a lot while roaming. But yeah, until Australia gets better rates from the overseas carriers, I suppose we are stuck. I assume the good Vodafone rates are to Vodafone carriers only?
Still better than Telstra's abysmal international roaming
