How do these chips compare to Red rock deli or kettle?

    • -5

      Poorly

    • +9

I'm a massive fan of the chilli variety, which I think compares very well (at least on flavour) with the kettle version.

      • +7

The chilli better resembles the old kettle chilli, which was superior in my opinion.

        • +1

Chilli sells out first and is most definitely the best variety

      • Ditto, I'm addicted to the chilli ones. Some weeks I go and there's none on the shelf and I get sad.

    • +2

I find them too salty. I've tried the cheese one.

    • +1

I buy the chilli flavour a lot as it's very similar to Kettle chilli chips from 10 years ago. The chips themselves are thick and crisp but occasionally some packs can be too salty, also they are more oily compared to the current Kettle and Red Rock Deli chips

      • What did they do to Kettle chilli? I was unaware of the change.

    • red rock and deli are cooked in palm oil …..high in saturated fat …..one of the smiths brands is cooked in corn oil ..and they make a big deal on the front label about lower in saturated fat ….fat is fat from calories perspective but some tend to clog arteries or lead to cancer more than others , and kids don’t have much choice in what we buy so they depend on us to make better choices.

      • +4

Protip: reliable information about health is not found on chip packets.

      • -1

Thanks for the info garage sale, I'll be sure to get the red rock and deli chips! Good to know.

You would too if you read the research on unstable oils like corn…

    These look great, thank you.

Time to stock up on Paper Towels and Shave Gel hasn't been this cheap for decades … well, according to much older acquaintances … obviously.

    • +4

      Prince Shave Gel 195g $2.00

It hasn't been this cheap since 1999.

      • +2

        I'm still shaving like it's 1999.

  • hows their rump steak or sausage?

    • +1

Rump is ok… Sausage is two notches below ok.

    • +1

      Don't lick the steak knife

  • +2

Hmm$12 per kilo for processed beef sausages, I’m skeptical of the waygu marketing spin

    • Are you saying there's no meat in sausages?

      • Meat yes, like meat pies, but don’t ask which part of the cow.

        • +1

it’s all protein “ soylent green is people”.

          • @garage sale: Well, I think reducing is best but China gets such a bad wrap.
So if not that I prefer a reuse dystopia (zombies).
If even that is too much to ask I'll settle for recycling.
Nothing wrong with soylent, it's green.

            • @The Magic Pudding: But you're a pudding named Albert that magically replenishes itself over night provided you don't eat it all!

  • the last time i bought some ribs from aldi it was so greasy

    damn aldi

    • +3

The store was greasy or the ribs?

      • -1

        the weather…

  • -1

Wow, even deep fried or oven roasted chips haven't escaped the "slow cooking" fadwagon.

    • -1

Our ancestors were cooking things slowly as far back as we've had fire…

  • 29c off on the chips. Wild.

    • my thoughts also

    • +1

Compare this with Kettle which is comparable in quality, less in weight and pricier even on special. I’ll call this bargain

    • 10% off is pretty good.

you need to look at the percentage difference for a real gauge. otherwise a $10k watch for $9900 is $100 off!!!.

      • 10% off $10000 is $9000.

        $100 off $10000 is 1%.

    • +5

Aldi's pricing model focuses on everyday low prices, not large discounts. You won't see eye-catching half-price discounts all over the place like Coles and Woolworths, because Aldi's prices are generally lower to start with.

  • Why on earth would you slow cook chips?
