ASUS Radeon RX 580 Dual Gaming OC 4GB $239 + Shipping (or Free Click and Collect) @ PC Case Gear

150

Title says it all really. There's a limit of 4 cards per person, but at this price, it's cheaper than most of the RX 570 deals I've been seeing.

Shipping's about $15, so that still doesn't kill the deal either.

  • Is there much difference in gaming between the 4gb and 8gb version?

      Yes

Depends on the games and the resolution you intend to play. If you are aiming for 4K, then you probably want 8GB.

The new iteration of RX 5 series cards are coming. For example: RX 590. The 10nm manufacturing update is targeted at higher clock speed so RX 590, for example, runs at higher clock speed but requires more power (from your power supply). AMD could have targeted lower power usage with the die shrink, but given the performance gap (compared to the green team offerings), they've opted to go for performance.

It explains why some retailers not stocking too many RX570, RX580 cards.

      • It's 12nm silicon, which is just GloFo or TSMC's bleeding edge 14nm and 16nm respectively. There's nothing fancy about it from that perspective, hence why it's higher clocks with higher power draw.

The MSRP is a joke though: US$280, which puts them at about $440 here (though I'm sure there'll be some sales prices here and there).

NVIDIA look set to return fire with cut-down GP104s turned into 1060s and 1070s, and then selling to clear. After that's done, it'll be RTX all the way until Navi.

          they could've slap 2x 12nm rx580 together as rx590x2 cum heater unit

        • Rx590 offers 3 new games worth up to $180 USD, better performance and Freesync to me that's better value. Everytime I see anything AMD in ozbargain you seem to always be a negative critic towards the company xD

          • @OWKnowitall1: People say the same thing about my attitude towards Pascal cards too…

All I'm saying is that there'll likely be 1060 models going for lower than $250 soon, and they'll be bundled with Monster Hunter World until the end of November.

I think that's better value than $400+ for an RX 590, even with the GSync tax.

@jasswolf: Oh all good mate, just curious. It's good that you're in the middle, I checked back some other comments you've said and it's not all doom on AMD. But I still think that rx580s are better option then 1060 in performance and Freesync 3 AAA games worth 180USD.
That's my bad , sorry for accusing you for dooming. Take care :).

      • Apparently the 10nm architecture is BS.
        Just a badge engineered RX580 and RX480

The texture packs like in Skyrim eat up memory.

Need to check whether the store will honour the latest Raise the Game offer (they should, but best to confirm):

    https://www.amd.com/en/gaming/raise-the-game?utm_campaign=ra…

Devil May Cry 5, The Division 2 and Resident Evil 2. For RX570 and RX580 owners, you can only choose two. RX590 and Vega buyers can get all 3.

  • Would this be bottlenecked by a 2200G?

    • +1

      2200 will be fine,

  • I emailed PC Case Gear earlier today, who stated they were likely to participate in the promotion, but couldn't say with absolute certainty (even though it's mentioned on the RX 590 product pages). I've had the RX 580 4GB sitting in my cart for the last week waiting for the revised "Raise the Game" promotion to go live. I'm growing impatient, however, and the RX 570 4GB from Mwave (who has already confirmed their participation in the promotion) is very tempting.

Unclear whether it comes with the code.

Not sure why getting the code to the customers is an issue. They get the codes from the distributors.
