Edit: This is not a change to Origin thread, this is a my experience with getting a better discount thread
My 25% off usage expires in Jan 19.
So I'd been looking for a new deal, I've been with Origin the last 10 years or so because I always find a deal that is good enough, not too far from the best deal. I always do it online as over the phone is annoying
Recently best I could find was 18%.
But Energy Australia had a 28% off usage with a whopping 12% feed in tariff, pretty good considering discount on usage. 1c higher unit price though. Still much better
Since this was to expire soon, I decided to take the move.
Just now, within the cooling off period. Origin marketing called me to tell me they'd better the offer with 32% offer and standard 8% feed in solar. I only have a 1.5kw system so no big deal. If I had a bigger system and feed in more I'd stick with EA
Process was I accepted the over the phone offer, with contract details to be sent to me. As I'm already with Origin, contract can be immediate, though he'd try to backdate it.
Next he forwarded me to Energy Australia, where you get a machine asking for an account number. I just pressed zero and they forwarded me to customer service.
Then it was 15mins of hold and last ditch effort to keep me.
The Origin guy who called me, said that since I opted out of marketing they never could send me new offers, I doubt any of them would have offered me 32% off, he said next time to call him and provided a number.
Do you realise comparing an X%-off discount is pointless without stating the rate/s from which they are discounting?
