Shipster's Shop and Win a "Prize" Promo: Fail

I'm annoyed enough about this to bitch about it in the forums :P

Original deal was here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/411546

Now the "prizes"/"gifts" are rolling in and they are mostly proxy discounts with high minimum spends at shops that a) no-one's ever heard of and b) were not mentioned in the promo material for the event.

As I said in the thread itself, they really stretched the meaning of the English language in their promotional material! What a disappointment. For a campaign that was presumably intended to raise the profile of Shipster, all it's done is make me think they're a pack of scam artists who don't deal in good faith.

I'm glad I got a year's free membership with Shipster - definitely not paying money to renew when it's up!

Poll, just because I can: are you happy with the honesty, and the quality of the "gifts", of the Shipster campaign?

I received 2 gifts. $25 off Zanui with $50 min spend. Happens I needed new cushions which I found for 40% off, added $25 discount and got free shipping. Second gift was $25 Deliveroo voucher no min spend. OK with that!

  • Have you given feedback to them? I am yet to receive my "prizes" so can not yet comment.

  • Is'nt this a life lesson in "Always read the Terms and Conditions"…..and if you are not happy, don't enter?

I received a $25 iTunes voucher…..as an Android user it is useless to me….but I'm not not going to complain about it, as I always knew I could end up with that as a "gift".

My view is that most people entering this promotion would have been hoping for the $10,000 prize, not the "gift" to the value of $25.

    Gifts Details
Entrants must make an Eligible Purchase to receive their gift from the Promoter via email. The types of gifts available may include any of the following: • a voucher for online purchases at selected Shipster Retailers up to the value of $25; • other prizes from selected Shipster Retailers that can be distributed digitally up to the value of $25; or • a voucher to use at a selected Shipster Partner up to the value of $25. Gifts may be subject to the individual Shipster Retailer and Partner terms and conditions including, but not limited to, expiry dates, minimum spend requirements, exclusions on particular items etc. Gifts are to be determined by the Promoter. The Promoter reserves the right to substitute any item(s) listed above with other item(s) at its absolute discretion. Gifts types will be distributed at random to each valid entrant and the Promoter will not be liable in any way if an entrant does not receive the gift of their choice by making an Eligible Purchase, for whatever reason.

  • Agree with happyjameson. You getting fee, shit stop whining and read the T and c’s. If you don’t like em don’t participate It’s a COMPETITION people no guarantee of being the big winner!!!

  • I've got a $25 iTunes voucher which while I'm an Android user I'm still stoked about because it's something actually worth something (not a $25 off $100 minimum spend at some random shop lol)

So yes, I'm happy but understand that most of the "gifts" they gave out weren't that good.

  • I'm sure you guys can sell those iTunes vouchers in the classifieds here on OzB!
