Have you had any experience with insuring your motor vehicle with Woolworths Insurance? I can't comment on how easy is the claim process but to tell them not to renew my existing policy is a nightmare and I can't imagine how many hoops I will need to jump through if I want to make a claim. Please share your experience.

Putting up premiums by 100% is just BS lol. Last increase i got was for about 10% more. And when i called, they told me its actually the best they could do, even a new qoute online was the same as renewal price (just no sign on bonus ewish card).
They never sent me my sign up gift card and tried to increase my premiums the following year. Never had to make a claim while I was with them though, was cheapest insurance for me at the time.
They sent mine.
Maybe Australia post gave it to the wrong address, just today I'm holding someone elses council letter because AustPost cant read the spelling of two streets in the same suburb.
Suggest you shop around between Racv & AAMI. Their claim process more simple.
Just a warning with AAMI. They have there own repair work shop and I had to take it back 3 times even then it wasn't a particularly good job. This was in Perth, perhaps there workshops elsewhere are better.
AAMI have their 'preferred' repairers, the only repair shop they (Suncorp) own are the SMART repair shops for minor damages like paint scratches, minor bumps etc
Yeah the repairer I was sent to was SMART.
I wouldn't have called it a minor repair.
I got my front bumper replaced there. No Complaints from me.
This was my experience with AAMI (actually insured through Bingle who were through AAMI & Suncorp) in Adelaide with a major crash. Didn’t have a choice with who my repairer was, ended up with a pretty dodgy repairer who did a crap job all round, had to go back to the repairer 5 times. At one point we were driving around with the airbag warning light on just because we needed our car so badly and they just kept stuffing us around.
The crash repairer quoted very low to get the job and then added on about 6 grand worth of other stuff by the time they’d fixed all the things wrong with the car, which at the end of the day still wasn’t quite right, for instance the muffler hung lower for some reason.
Eventually, we traded in and swore to never go with an insurer who won’t let you choose your repairer.
I went them because it was the cheapest last year but yeah a huge increase when renew. One thing I don't understand is the credit card details I gave them was for that year premium not a long term direct debit authorisation so when they charged my card again this year after I told them not to renew it shouldn't that be called stealing?
If you told them you are cancelling they should cancel. Even if they do charge your card, theres a cooling off period where they will refund your monies. Just let them know it hasnt occured.
They don't answer my phone. Just keep on redirecting me to other staff and put me on hold until I hang up. Dodgy way to lock you into their policy. I had to go to my bank to do a chargeback and cancel my credit card.
strange, i've called them twice to cancel, on seperate occasionals coz i always look around every year. Every time it's been a quick and painless exercise.
@cloudy: I called them 3 times. First 2 waited for 15 mins no one answered. 3rd time waited for 7mins someone answered and asked hell lot of questions for another 7 mins why I was not renewing then I told him I was in hurry please confirm you would not renew my policy and charge my credit card then he told me he couldn't do it and had to transfer me to another colleague then I waited for 15mins and gave up and hang up. Nice try Woolworths Insurance.
@wtfnodeal: sounds like you only really called once.
The trick is either call on odd hours where you dont have to wait long, or call 10 mins prior to when you wanna speak to someone, like whilst u brush ur teeth. Hardly an organisation i call answers in less than 10 mins.
@cloudy: The problem is even I got through they would not cancel my policy that easily. They would then transfer me to someone else could cancel the policy. Hence why I wonder what if I want to make a claim? Does it take me hours to get to speak to someone? I remember signing up for a new policy with them was done in less than 10 mins.
Made a claim last week. No issues at all, easier than AAMI etc as i took it to my local repairer. Approved same day.
I was with Woolworth's insurance. Signup offer was good. I was paying by month. They continued charging me even after I moved to bingle. I had call them a few times to get my money back.
My brother was with AAMI too. The repair was bad. He had to make another appointment. We are now with Budget insurance. No problems to choose a repairer.
Honestly, I've been with them and it's been okay. They try to put up the premiums by about 100% every time it comes up for renewal, but a quick call, asking for the retention team, and they usually go back to something reasonable like a 5% increase and it's done.
Haven't had to make any claims, but have had to contact them for other things like updating details, clarifying cover, etc, and have been generally able to get through to them without too much trouble.
