AIA Vitality - Fitness Trackers / Smart Watches

Hi All,

I've recently signed up to AIA Vitality and am searching for a new fitness tracker or smart watch.

In particular, I would like to purchase the Samsung Galaxy Watch - but the Australian AIA Vitality app doesn't support direct linking to S-health. I considered using the "Health Sync" app to have S-health synchronise to Google Fit and then have the Vitality App link to Google Fit, however, I noticed the following message when linking to Google Fit - "Fitness data must be either captured in the Google Fit app installed on this phone, or a wearable fitness device. It cannot be via a third-party app connected to Google Fit".

Does anyone know if there is any other means of synchronising the Samsung Galaxy Watch?

Alternatively, failing that - I'm not all that impressed with other fitness trackers.. but there are a few potential Wear OS watches that look good. Would I be safe to assume that all Wear OS devices can syncronise with Google Fit (and therefore Vitality)?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi bud,

Did you manage to find an answer? I am in the same boat as you - Galaxy watch on Note 9 trying to get data through Google fit.

  • Hey guys, hoping someone has found a solution to this?

I'm in the same boat. Didn't realise before making the switch to AIA, that S-health doesn't even sync to it.

Very annoying as I don't want to replace my galaxy watch, I'd rather find a way to make it work instead.

    • It's an Australia only thing. AIA link to Samsung Health in other countries. :-(

I can't be arsed to use a sync tool to move the data around. Have read some success stories of people syncing between Google / Samsung / Garmin / Strava, but not much point for me as I have successfully got Strava connected and get 100 points per day through them for cycling.

      • So this is what I've discovered in the last few days.

There is a sync app called Health Sync which does an awesome job of syncing data across between fitness apps. So my Samsung watch can record all my steps on S-health, then this app sync's every 10 minutes and brings all my recorded steps across to Google Fit.

Problem is AIA have somehow figured out that steps which are counted in this way, do not count towards the AIA target goal. Hence though my Google Fit was linked to AIA, I was not getting any points for hitting targets.

I spoke to AIA and they confirmed that Australia are very close in getting the S-health link finally. In fact they released it apparently but had to call it back due to bugs so are hoping within the next month to release it. They said records will be backdated up to 30 days so we will get points from now until then.

        • Thanks for the update. I've just hit my annual 15,000 point activity limit, so not sure I'm too worried about it for the rest of my membership year.

  • Look like the latest version of the AIA app now has native S-Health support (can only see it in the app and not the website). Pretty stoked that this has finally come out.

    • Thanks for the tip off.
