gf and i are planning on getting new phones for christmas (early christmas). we really like the look and price of the oppo R17 pro. but with all the posts here, vids on youtube and more people talking about the oneplus 6t, we are torn. are they basically the same phone?? oppo owns oneplus. but oppo cant sell in the US and many other countries so they made oneplus? the phones look the same but which one is better?

color OS is garbage
cool story man.
Oneplus
Oppo has NO SUPPORT. No updates, you are stuck.
One plus all the way
Can't speak for Oppo however the experience I've had with OnePlus 6 has been fantastic.

OnePlus if local warranty doesn't bother you much
Oneplus all the way.
Agree OnePlus would be my choice, but at least in terms of the new 6T, it looks like support in Australia might be limited:
from the OnePlus website:
"Friends in Australia,
Thank you for the amazing support. We're putting sales for this region on hold until we're sure our Aussie fans can get the best OnePlus experience. We'll continue to provide the promised after-sales support for OnePlus 5 users in Australia."Having said that I have the Essential phone and have had great support from them even though it's not official sold here either.
No doubt, answer is OnePlus.
OPPO has worse customer support than Samsung. Don’t expect to get any updates if you buy an OPPO. Go with the OnePlus.
Oppo phones run their garbage ColorOS.
OnePlus phones run OxygenOS, which is pretty close to AOSP Android, offering a great deal of customisation and flexibility.
