Going to Dubai for a week and was wondering if someone can recommend best sim / network for lots of data and some local phone calls, but mainly data.
and if possible to buy it here or have to wait till I'm there?

I thought Etisalat was a monopoly and only carrier? Haven't been since 2010 so I don't know.
There are two providers, Etisalat and DU, similar in general.
You may ask for the visitors sim from EtisalatDon't use Vodafone - I was there a couple of days ago. Their roaming charges;
Make calls - up to $20.89 per min + 40c connection
Receive calls - $5 per min
Send a text - $3.50
Receive a text - FREE
Data - $51.20 per mb!Thank you all.
In the end just used WiFi and offline mapsI'm heading there in a couple of weeks. Did you spot any sim deals at all?
Hi @dancasper. I wondered what did you ended up with and was there any specials at the supermarket for sims like they have in Australia?
Sorry for late response but in the end I did not end up getting a sim. They were available at reasonable cost but the data allowance was surprisingly very low (1gb max?).
I got by very easily with public wifi access points. There were plenty available, free and seemed to be unencumbered (nothing dodgy) in most public areas (cafe, malls, hotels, tourist spots, etc).
Virgin sim is cheapest by far and more data and u can’t get it from here
