    I did ketogetic diet for one year and lost 75KG

    Read Atkins instructions
    if you eat much, you will have diarrhea ( for the energy bar you had, because of the sweetener they use)!!
    I had been suffering for a week and finally knew why.
    So I don't suggest anyone buy that.

    • Well done on your fat loss!

      Different sweeteners seem to affect different individuals differently. My tummy doesn't like Zilched Slurpees for example, while they're fine for others. I think it also depends on the dosage and what's already in your tummy since that will affect the absorption rate.

      • For me,
        I had been eating carbs for 22 years ( as a vegetarian ),
        my thirst to sugars are pretty high, so I can't stop eating..
        which means I have to eat a lot, and I have to ensure I won't get fatter by me eating extra.
        Keto is the best way.
        but this definitely is not good as a snack food for long term. at least for me.

        • Yes, vegetarians and more so vegans typically consume a lot of carbohydrate to get enough protein from plant sources. To me they consume way too much carbohydrate and possibly too much fibre! Carbohydrates are not essential nutrients, they're just extra food energy which most people don't need.

          I lost ~15 kg of mostly fat last year on a ketogenic diet over about 3 months, but I stayed on it for a lot longer to maintain visible abdominal muscles.

          • @Scrooge McDuck: Good for you!
            (is this a post now about ketogetic diet lol)

          • @Scrooge McDuck:

            I lost ~15 kg

            How much do you weigh now, McDuck

          • @Scrooge McDuck: Did you ketogenic diet involve high fat?

            Agree that vegetarian diets often can result in high carbohydrates to feel full/get protein. E.g. lentils which are often quoted by my friends as high protein source has 20g CHO for every 10g protein or every 116 calories. Compared tuna for 20g protein there are 0 carbs and 110 calories.

            • @gimli: High protein, moderate fat, no carbs.

                @Scrooge McDuck:

                High protein, moderate fat, no carbs.

                That's not a ketogenic diet.

                Ketogenic Diet: 75% fat, 20% protein, 5% carbohydrate

                You just took carbs out of your diet.

                  @KLoNe:

                  That's not a ketogenic diet.

                  What makes you think that?

                  • -1

                    @Scrooge McDuck: Oh, I see your 2nd quote is from an external source. I didn't read it the first time since you didn't attribute it or distinguish it in any way from my quote.

                    The word ketogenic refers to using ketone bodies for energy. Any diet which causes ketosis is a ketogenic diet.

                    You're thinking of the traditional ketogenic diet which was developed to treat epilepsy.

          Depends, Keto is more of a lifestyle change and you have to stick to it even after you've lost the weight, regular caloric deficit works just as well, especially if you do lots of physical activity because I don't have enough energy to lift without carbs.

  • Yeah I always check the packet for malitol. If I eat that stuff, I wake up about 1am with massive food cravings. Totally messes with my system. I had this protein bar phase where I stocked up on cheap protein bars from catch and was completely confused as to why I would wake up in the middle of the night completely ravenous. Ran out of bars - cravings stopped.
