Free iPhone X Display Module Replacement for Touch Issues @ Apple Store

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Enjoy :)

Apple has determined that some iPhone X displays may experience touch issues due to a component that might fail on the display module. An affected device may exhibit the following:

The display, or part of the display, does not respond or responds intermittently to touch
The display reacts even though it was not touched

Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider will replace the display module on eligible devices, free of charge.

No other iPhone models are part of this program.

Service process

Choose one of the options below to have your iPhone X serviced. Your iPhone will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program.

  • Find an Apple Authorized Service Provider.
  • Make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store.
  • Contact Apple Support to arrange mail-in service via the Apple Repair Center.

Before service, backup your iPhone to iTunes or iCloud. Learn more about preparing your iPhone for service.

If your iPhone X has any damage which impairs the ability to complete the repair, such as a cracked screen, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the service. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the additional repair.

Additional Information

Apple may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase.
This Apple program doesn't extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone X.
If you believe your iPhone X was affected by this issue, and you paid to replace your display module, you can contact Apple about a refund.
The program covers affected iPhone X devices for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

    More PSA than deal

    • +9

More a right under consumer law than a deal…

Sorry, how is this a bargain?

    • Because now Apple people know $2000 doesn't buy QA.. So they'll buy Android and save $1000?

Admittedly Android is worse, but last gen flagship means you pay a reasonable price. IMHO paying over $500 for a phone is a bit crazy

Product recall = Not bargain. Even if it is free. Deal is not for everyone also, may as well be targeted to those with iPhone X’s.

May be ..May not be. It ok for me wherever this post ends up but Apple iPhone Battery Replacement to apologise for slowing down of iPhones was considered as a deal sometime back.

      • +1

That's because batteries degrade with age and people could replace their degrading batteries in the older iPhones on the cheap ($39).
With a display module on a newer iPhone it either works or it doesn't. People aren't going to replace their aging display module lol, there's no point if it still works fine.

And on a phone with no buttons besides power and volume it's important to have touch. People aren't going to wait until a "deal" comes up to replace it, they'll fix it as soon as it happens.

Agree. This is forum fodder and not a bargain per se.

  • +7

Sorry but a repair program for faulty hardware isn't a deal. There's a reasonable expectation that the touch functionality wont fail 12 months into ownership which means the resultant servicing is obligatory under relevant consumer protection law regardless of the status of any warranty. Therefore this 'deal' isn't saving anyone any money.

12months? I thought it was 2 years now

This really isn't a deal, it belongs in the forum.

Thanks for the information. The deal is that rather than going to a cheap repairer not knowing this ‘deal’, I now know that I can send friends to apple if their iPhone X have issue with the display.

Why would you take a product under warranty to a third party repair store?

      • In the case of out of warranty.. The program covers affected iPhone X devices for 3 years after the first retail sale of the unit. good to know. However, I also saw this in MacRumors which I visit often.

A replacement for a defective display module is definitely not a bargain.

Forums, go ahead. It's good to let people know it, just in the wrong category.

If only other brands had: Buy product get free replacement for faulty parts while under warranty (or reasonable expected product life)

  • +1

    It's not a bargain, it's an obligation.

  • +1

This is not a deal. Otherwise every recall type issue would fall under bargain.

Thanks OP. did not know about this. There has been one or two instances where my screen touches had no response and I just thought it was because my hands were too cold or the screen protector I had somehow prevented it.

  • there seems to be a lot of recalls for iPhones

  • +3

this is NOT a bargain. Since when did product recall/fix are bargain?

  • Atleast Apple replace it for free. Here in Australia Samsung technician will make up some excuses like water damage.

    • -1

      Probably will anyway

  • +1

This isn't a deal. It's called consumer warranty rights.

  • Warranty replacements aren't a deal

  • -2

Alright, alright, NOT a deal, but people, just ask it to be moved to the forum, it's a pretty important post - why neg?

    • +1

Cause it not a deal so people neg non deals. That’s how this place works.

  • This would only be a deal if it were a sneaky backdoor to have a cracked screen replaced free.

That doesn’t seem to be the case, AND it is highly targetted down to a serial number level.

  • Think the screen gets replaced too? Sounds likes it just a piece behind the screen (no?)… or is that the whole screen?
