It can be used in Australia. Currently Lightake has sold many M9 to worldwide customers,Netherlands,Germany,Russia,Chile,Brazil,UK and AU,can be used worldwide.
Network Bands: GSM 850/900/1800/1900,HSDPA,WCDMA 900/1800/1900/2100MHz
PS:I have a customer from melbourne city,he told me M9 working perfect.
It works just fine
Quadband:GSM:850/900/1800/1900MHz WCDMA 900/2100MHz
edit: rep beat me to it >.<
You should do some research before speaking and sounding like a nub
HSDPA,WCDMA 900/1800/1900/2100MHz is actually 3.5G it'll work great on any 900Mhz carriers and 2100Mhz
Which is predominantley Telstra. What makes that a problem for the other networks?
lol is nextg the only 3G in australia now? you are one ignorant creature. How much does telstra pay you?
Looks good.
No NextG UMTS850, so no good for me.
After much feedback, no other carrier worth looking at in my travels.
Telstra $99 cheapo out yesterday, might have to go check that one out.
"Goodluck finding signal out of metropolitan area's."
Is what I was responding too albeit Telstra area coverage is greater I do alot of remote hiking and I use Telstra and at times I have seen Optus 900Mhz UMTS beat Telstra
I like how you neglect ot even mention the 900Mhz band
Either way please do not listen to this ignorant user if your in a CBD this phone will WORK GREAT, if you currently use Optus, Vodafone, Crazy Johns ETC THSI PHONE WILL WORK GREAT
If you use Telstra is will WORK GREAT in CBD's and Will have Voice, Text and slower Data when you venture out remote
I have mate didn't you read my post ResG vs NextG in the Blue Mountains Jamisons Valley and Parts of the Cedar Valley at times i had reception at other times the YesG had more reception
Either way this isn't the topic at hand you should do you research this phone either way supports 1 of our 3G networks jsut like most phones that support 1 or the other
Your being totally unreasonable and closed to this standard fact theres only a handful of Quad Band UMTS devices that support 850/900 most phones are one or the other people make the decision based on their carrier
So this phone is suitable for well most of our Australian Providers actually it supports all of them bar one if we talk in terms of RURAL UMTS otherwise it supports them all lol
Everyone is commenting your initial comment which is blatantly wrogn and arrogant, you are now merly changing your story and admitting your initial comment was rubbish
Yet again you contradict yourself if you want to talk about childish and arguing pelase re read your first 2 posts simply childish (the use of caps lol I agree I'm childish I retaliated with Caps too lol
But you ideally you wanted an argument making a closed statement "Except it doesn't support 3G" would ofcourse cause debate and argument
If your original post was to inform people it would not work on Telstra's NextG network you could have simply said that? Instead you felt like an argument lol?
Not compatible with Telstra's NextG (850mhz), unfortunately. :(
Is the price in $AUD or $USD?
its USD. good for us (not US). 1USD = 0.9901 AUD
Their site should clearly state that then.
The default for a .com site is pretty obviously going to be US dollars.
well this is the iphone 4 killer for half the price
I had a Meizu MP3 player back in the day and the sound quality was superb - these guys know how to do audio.
Not telstra :(
Oh comon… right after I have order my x5 lol Nice to see it coming to Australia but somewhat out of my budget anyway~
Impressive.
Battery life figures would be great to know, also be interesting to know if Meizu would be likely to issue updates for this phone, ie Gingerbread/Honeycomb
Only 'Chinese users guide included'? lol
The Meizu's are cool phones. I was seriously interested in one, but i'll stick with my Nexus One for now as Gingerbread is running very nicely on it.
Great Price for the Phone:
Rep fix your spelling mistake "Pomotion Price"
Thank you for your notice,it seems our coder made a stupid mistake(he do not know English)
I will fix it today
Thank you :)
They need to call it Retina display, then people will be lining up for it.

Mod - Why is a Non Australian website running promotions here ???
and to all others getting excited about the bang for the buck, sure $450 means alot to you. So put it towards something you know you can rely on, a feature less is still better than 'Time Bomb' !!
This model/manufacturer has been well documented on the tech blogs, so those who have researched it and are waiting for a good deal should have no issues in buying it. There is a certain risk with buying anything. Why should this be any different?
Engadget review:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/01/exclusive-a-day-trip-to-m…
Not trying to defend China here, but alot of electronics are manufactured in China, u are trying to say everything is a bomb that is made in china? lol
Sure everythings made in China and i have nothing against it.. But all companies selling it are registered in Australia so everythin you buy off them is covered with or without warranty under the terms of the Australian Consumer Law..
If an Australian company sold it at a reasonable price people would buy it plain and simple noone does. This is a phone alot of people hear about (tech people) and never get a chance to play with so this is an oppurtinity obviously with risks for warranty but sending it back to China for a claim albeit is slow it still works
That didn't stop me from buying a Nexus One from the US.Basically you take a punt. If it works out fine, if not then you return it at your expense to the OS based reseller. It's not hard you just need to be aware of it.
This phone isn't available here, so getting in from OS is the only way.
I took plenty of punts on technology buying an original Ipad, Kindle etc it's jsut what you have to do if you want a device badly enough lol
All these devices are backed by the world's biggest.. Google, Apple and Amazon in your cases… So its a well calculated risk!! But a Joe Blow ……..
Maybe when Australian businesses give real bargains they will show up here…by real bargains I don't mean 2 years old technology being cleared out.
Checked web.
Good review everywhere. Best specifications & ANDROID!!
xda-developers ROM in cooking…So expect support & updates. M9 ROM is so good they are porting to other devices.
I want to buy one but need reliable source.. I haven't heard of this website. If this website is covered by Paypal protection then peace of mind to buy..
Thanks
Jack Wong is the Steve Jobs of China. All Meizu products are top quality, these phones are not KIRFs.
These phones are good quality but to be honest, they are fairly KIRFy. Which… isn't necessarily a bad thing, the Galaxy S is a KIRF (not helped by Touchwiz trying so hard to look like IOS) but is also probably the best-selling Android device in Australia and from what I've heard, a halfway decent phone.
The Galaxy S is a KIRF? what a joke, there goes any credibility you had.
We have done many promotion in Ozbargain ,and everyone received our items. We provide 1 year warranty for Meizu M9.
Don't mobile phones have to go through some sort of Aussie testing / licensing procedure? What's the fine like if you get caught?
Couldn't Vodafone/Telstra remotely identify unlicensed phones, maybe by something like a MAC address/IMEI? They haven't done it - yet - but it looks possible.
Yes. $0. No.
Why would Vodafone/Telstra bother? they aren't the police/authorities. As long as they don't supply the non-approved phone then they haven't done anything wrong.
I had a Meizu M4 MP3 player back in the day. it was easily better than most other MP3 players on the market, bar maybe the high end cowons at the time. Hopefully the M9 meets the standards set back then but the lack of NextG compatibility is a bit of a killer.
Yeah, these phones are priced well for quality
shame it doesnt have a forward facing camera - other than that it seems a great phone
"LCD Sharp AVS 3.5 inch 960X640" [wipes drool off chin]
as usual, the typical Chinese warranty ruins it for me, it's a manufacturer warranty where you have to send it back to HK and you are charged shipping each way! but i won't hold it against them, most other HK sellers have the same
really? most HK sellers i dealt with paid for the shipping back to me
If your M9 has problem, return to HK shipping cost paid by customer.
but sending to you again,Lightake will pay for it.
So you will just need to pay for "one way' shipping, not both way
The problem is, shipping from Australia is much more expensive..
Whats GPS used in this unit ?
Is it normal GPS or just A-GPS ?
The GPS is from TriQuint, according to this article http://sjbbs.zol.com.cn/165/1434_1649237.html (Chinese), you can see it at the left bottom corner in the photo right above section 9
I thought A-GPS = normal GPS unit + network assistant?
you can't have A-GPS without GPS, A-GPS just gets your initial(cold start) position faster by downloading your position through the phone network
Looks good.
But what is the radiation level? Does it meet Australian/NZ standard?
Is that the reason why it's not sold under Australian businesses?
it's highly unlikely this is due to radiation or other issues… just like those beautiful Japanese phones (Sharp, NEC, Mitsubishi, yes, Mitsubishi!) have never been made officially (IIRC) available in Australia… i'm not trying to compare between chinese and japanese products, but there must be some other reasons?
afaik like fox suggested this is china made for chinese:P if you are anywhere other than chinese u will have to import thru like dealextreme and such websites
http://www.dealextreme.com/p/pre-order-meizu-m9-3-5-touch-sc…
Not sure what Australian/NZ standard is, it does meet Chinese standard for sure as mobile phones in China have to meet the standard (SAR limit 2w/kg for 10g) to get the "Network entry permit" before they are released. The permit certificate can be found under the battery or on battery cover (a blue sticker).
FYI: Permit NO. for M9 is 02-8292-105899
is EMS = DHL? I dont seemt o be able to get free DHL in the shipping options.
EMS still needs ~$9
No EMS is not DHL
EMS is "Express Mail Service"
Basically just the normal post operator offering an international courier service, part of some co-op. Australia's version of EMS is Express International Courier (IIRC) at AusPost.
more can be read here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Express_Mail_Service
No need to pay extra fees, just order it as airmail, our warehouse will arrange shipping as DHL to all AU customer
I would like to know how to select free DHL to australia.
Thank you.
Thanks Trance N Dance for the explanation too.
Do not need to select anything, just order it online.
Our warehouse will ship all M9 to AU customer via DHL.
Just choose Airmail shipping method.
Do not need to choose EMS.
WE will ship this cellphone to All AU customer via DHL.
removed…
How does this compare to the galaxy S, seems to have pretty much identical specs apart from a higher res screen and after a little search the pricing seems to be in a similar range currently…
This is superior to the Galaxy S in almost every way. Of course, the brand is also a fairly unknown quantity (outside of gadget circles where it's relatively respected)
it's hard to find any reviews on its camera capabilities…even in Chinese forums…anyone can share some views?
It seems be the cheapest price I saw.
Does this phone use licensed Android or the Open Source one? (i.e: Does it have access to Google App Market?)
You can use Google market well by it
I don't think this phone will work in Australia.
