Does anyone have any recommendations for a laptop for my MIL? 15.6" screen, main use is basic internet browsing… any suggestions or any great deals? Thanks!

Mother In Law
Oh, sorry. A gift for my mother in law. Also, my partner thinks a total budget computer will be fine. But when I was in Harvey Norman today they said that the $600 option (Acer or basic HP) will not last beyond 2 years. While we have macbooks ourselves, my partner does not think that is necessary for his own Mum. She basically plays Solitaire, facebook, a bit of netflix and random internet browsing. Sorry if this is not appropriate posting - new here! :-)
Try to find a chromebook, should be cheaper than a normal laptop
Get a macbook air.
- Same OS as you… If something is wrong or unknown you might be able to help.

Correct. Surprised they admitted that but yes the HN/JB/TGG specials are usually shit. Lenovo or DELL from one of the recent ebay sales would be my pick.
What is your budget?? A macbook air will last longer than an average PC notebook. If one of you is due for an upgrade(or almost due) could you give the MIL yours/your partners and you upgrade??
Thanks for that.
Budget wise - partner was thinking $500-$600. He thinks this as she is a basic user. Also anything too complicated will mean his Mum won't understand and won't know how to use it and creates a headache for him as he has to fix it. lol.
Not a bad idea upgrading his, and passing on his.
Otherwise since looking on ozbargain I was now considering the Lenovo that is on sale today. Although I've never used these cashback rewards!
Makes sense getting something that might last the distance a bit more.
THANKS ALL!!If you can grab one of the lenovo laptops with the 12% cashback absolutely do that.
Though I can't give recommendations. The e585/580 is probably a bit expensive (maybe?), But that'd probably be a bit overkill for the basic usage.
Edit - Alternatively pick up the 14" models.

This one is on sale.
Here is the 1 review it has on the jb hi fi site.
I bought this about a month ago and it has been great so far. For the money you get a very fast computer that does pretty much what most people need. There a re a few limitations as it is a chromebook but if you primarily surf the internet, watch YouTube and Netflix and stream music this is all you really need. Also it is super light and considering it's a 15incher that's quite an accomplishment.
15.6" screen laptop for internet browsing?
Wow, you must really hate your MIL
haha. I think that is the best size !! lol.
If it's mostly for internet browsing go a tablet or a 2 in 1. A 15.6" laptop is overkill
Nah, 2 in 1s are way to heavy IMO.
Although I'll stand by the 14" best size ;)
Alternatively if OPs fine with 14", it's $150 less expensive.
