  • Negative.

    1) I'm sick of hightek posts on a weekly basis
    2) This is not cheap or a bargain
    3) Fully redundant DNS cluster? Doesn't look like it to me.

    • Firstly johnsee,

Scott has already approved our posts and can confirm this himself.

Secondly, if you wish to find our more about our DNS cluster, then by all means contact us. Our DNS is fully redundant and is mirror across all our servers globally. I don't know where you "seem" to be looking for our redundant DNS, but your obviously not looking in the right places :)

The irony here is that you may be sick of it, yet you clicked the link, read it, then replied to it.

      Have a nice night.

      • Err. OzBargain is community moderated so no point of drawing me out on this one. I don't "approve" posts here and I only disapprove ones that are obvious spams.

As of DNS — they were designed to be redundant and in cluster anyway. Most registrars will require at least two name servers per domain, and those who host those two name servers on the same physical hardware are just kidding themselves.

        • Well, we're not about to stop posting discounts because of a few whingers either.

You want to whinge, take it to whirlpool.

Other sites such as ShoppingSquare, Aldi, BigW, Dominos…need i list more are posted on here regularly so I see no reason why we cant be on that list.

If you don't like it, dont read it…simple.

  • In my experience, most domains will actually kick back to 'inactive' unless 2 nameservers are set.

    dns1.techservers.com.au 1 A 122.201.64.178 14400s
    dns2.techservers.com.au 1 A 122.201.85.97 14400s

They are definitely not in very different physical locations.

That aside though, I think you are missing the difference between yourself and ShoppingSquare, BigW etc. All of those deals being posted are normally showing a real bargain… normally the best price in Aus. Your deals are not.

"If you don’t like it, dont read it…simple" is stupid attitude in a community moderated site.

    • I am not familiar with NetLogistics' set up, but looks like traceroute to DNS1 is terminated at Pacific Internet and DNS2 terminates at Equinix. Pacific Internet is on Pitt Street (used to have a server co-loc with them). Equinix is in Mascot I think.

I know it is not going to help if Sydney gets nuked. But then I guess I won't be reading OzBargain in that case either :)

  • Hi Dale

I am going to disapprove your post not because I don't like hightek or your offering, but, it seems to me that your daily posting is dangerously close to ummm… ads.. yes, that's a very filthy word for this bargain website.

I am sure your product is top notch and you are willing to stand for it.

I do have suggestion though.. rather by toss away random discount every day, people may appreciate an everyday low price (yeah, like woolies's everyday low price slogan :) for your product.

    Regards
    Elcheapo.. the cheapskate..
