  • Bargain price for a NextG Smartphone…
Pretty decent price for a NextG phone full stop!

might want to put total price in the subject/title - very easy to read that it's $129 total and the $50 credit is a bonus - still seems like an ok deal though

    • Yep, fooled me. Blame the telecos, as that is how their marketing departments have done things lately. We are getting more and more like the US, not in a good way.

Please give the real total price, including taxes and dealer delivery fee. Is it locked?

So is Android any good on a screen this small?

Staticice price of $162 for an Ouright unclocked fone is better than $179 for a telstra locked handset.. And it doesn't "come" with $50 recharge, u have to buy the $50 recharge to get this fone at this price….
Even if u were to add shipping to the one at staticice and the price be same, i would stil prefer it to be unlocked…

    • But what other network are you going to use it on?
It's a NextG phone… seems kinda silly to buy it to use on Optus/Voda…
(unless you're going OS and want to use local pre-paid SIMs rather than roam)

huh?? whats wrong with using on optus or voda??

    • I think the point that is being made is that you're wasting its nextG capability if you don't use it on telstra. I mean realistically, you can just get that Huawei u1850 for $99 from CJs if you want a budget 2.2 android for optus/voda.

      • Here goes the same old argument again. All the budget smart phone you get from CJ or Staticice DOES NOT have the 850 frequency which is required to run on NextG.

People who like to talk on their phone all day should not be on Telstra hence this deal is not suitable. If you are after a good quality network and good data speed that this is the cheapest smart phone you can get to use on Telstra.

        • Well, it's not exactly the "cheapest smartphone you can get to use on Telstra" since there's the SmartTouch now for $99. It runs Android 2.1, Wifi, GPS…and purchased it from Dick Smith for $85 delivered.

Nonetheless, this is still a good bargain.

  • the specs are ok except for the screen, android needs at least 240x480 otherwise you'll have problems with some apps, dammit! and you would be buying this smartphone for apps right, or else that $1 nokia would be the go!

  • Phone is def 2.1 android, unable to be updated to 2.2 or better.

  • Oops my mistake, it comes with 2.1 but gsmarena says its 2.2 upgradeable:
