  • Crazy price, bought one from TGG sale for just under 2k and didn't think it'd get cheaper so soon.

    • What's your impressions? Pros and cons, if you don't mind me asking?

      • +1

Wish I knew, it’s still sitting in the box! (finishing home renovations at the moment, so didn’t want to set it up)

      • +1

        Brother bought one, it's awesome.

  • +1

    $74.60 postage for me =/
edit: need to change postcode, defaulted to QLD for some reason

TH-65FZ950U Panasonic 65 inch OLED TV is also down to $3,399.00

Great price. Just shows how crazy Sony are with it's pricing for the 55" A9F when you can get 2 of these compared to the cheapest the Sony 55" A9F has been via GG Ebay at $3996.

  • +1

Great price for one of the best TVs currently available.

    • And downright best TV of 2018 for picture quality.

    • +1

Bit small though, it's not 2011.

      • Depends how far you sit really, the smaller the screen, the higher the pixel density, the closer you can sit, which makes it bigger in your field of view. I came from a 65" FHD plasma, and I was forced to sit at least 5m away in order to enjoy it, but with this 55" 4K set I can sit even 2-3m away (I have bean bags in-front of TV and sofas further back). So while the the 65" was impressive from distances further away, the 55" is just as enjoyable if you just sit closer.

Excludes 2/3 of Australia. Oh they don't matter anyway :)

    • +8

Still covers 90% of the population

        • +6

ALot more fun with a sense of humour, you should try it.

  • LG 55 inch OLED also on sale. $1935 pretty solid!

    • +1

A lesser set for more money.

      • +1

From reading reviews, past comments and past posts this is the superior set.

        • LG C8 is the superior set?

I'd mainly use it for streaming and PS4 gaming (Fifa, NBA, FPS)

          • @bisaya: do you feel the panasonic or LG is the better buy?

      • Panasonic don't even support Dolby vision and they use LG panels anyway.

    • +1

Thanks for pointing it out. I got the LG because it's lighter which is important for my purposes. The good reviews on Google also helped sway me towards it.

      • +1

No worries. I also went the LG as the reviews made it seem like the best TV in a while for this price.

  • Is this suitable for gaming? Any visible input lag?

    • +2

All the 2018 OLED TV's (Panasonic, LG, Sony) are great for gaming. They are all equal in fact, with 1ms response time and 21ms input lag, which put it in the very best TV's for gaming, the only thing that bests it would be a tiny gaming monitor. Also this TV was voted to have the best picture quality of any TV in 2018.

    • I would say no due to burn in…

      • Gaming doesn't give burn in, red tv station logos over thousands of hours will though.

If you watch a lot of FTA tv maybe go for LCD

        • +1

Er have you never played a game with a hud?

          • +3

@JAKEBAB: Yes and RTINGS have been playing CoD and FIFA with a HUD for 6000 hours; 20 hours a day 7 days a week without burn in. It is so over hyped it is not funny. 2018 TV's are 6-7x more resistant than 2016 sets - it is really a non-issue now.

  • +1

Great price, I prefer the look of the LG both in terms of design and WebOS though I reckon. This stand is screaming for it to be wall mounted IMO.

  • What is the 65 inch LG Oled price now with all these discounts ?
The LG C8 or the Panasonic is better ?

    • +4

They are both better for different reasons.
Panasonic has arguably the best overall picture quality, whereas the LG has a better OS and build quality, and supports Dolby Vision.

But the LG currently suffers from a major dimming/brightening lag issue in the latest firmware. If you are going to buy the LG, do not watch any videos on the dimming issue, or you will forever notice it.
I did watch the video's and then noticed it every time on the LG when browsing in stores, hence why I went with the Panasonic.

      • I wish to know this, but the motion picture seems a bit strange although it's okay with Gaming.

  • What smart tv box would be best to pair with this in order to run android tv on it? Ive got a Sony and would like to be able to access the same apps.

    • +1

Do you mean something like a xiaomi mi box 3?

      • Yes would this be the best one? Would it give me access to all the apps I can access on my Sony?

        • I would say yes. It has the Google Play Store. Probably better support than the Sony tv app store.

          • @bisaya: Sony has google play as well. I just bit the bullet and bought the TV. Going off YouTube reviews I think I’ll be very happy. Thanks op

  • +1

They jacked the price up $49 to $2099. New total with discount applied is 1,889.10.

  • +1

They look a cowboy, The TV price swings like the TPG share price.

  • They've changed the price again to $2,080. Weird.

    Discounted price now at $1872.

It also might be worth noting that the number available has remained at 5 each time I checked the page yesterday and today. Yet the number sold has increased to 28 from I think 21 or so when I first checked it. So they may be fabricating that they're almost sold out the whole time.

    • I suspect if they're selling TVs sourced from the wholesaler. Do they offer the manufacturer warranty?

  • +1

I ordered Tuesday and received it Wednesday, snappy delivery!

    • Ordered last night at like 10pm Brisbane time. Doubt we'll see it today, but have tracking number already so that's nice.

Pretty excited if I'm being honest. Went to gawk at this set in person and had to pick my jaw up off the floor, then hide how impressed I was as I did not buy it in store for about $700 more…

      • +1

My sentiments exactly. Can’t wait for mine to arrive on Monday as I’m all YouTubed out watching reviews on it.

        • Totally! But how good is Vincent Teoh's channel!? Now I want my new TV professionally calibrated too (but don't know how to do that exactly…)

          • +1

@JownehFixIT: Yes Vincent seems to know his stuff. He does mention he’ll fix up people’s tv’s that have been calibrated using autocal, which is what the guy in the next comment uses to calibrate his tv. Not sure what the problem is with autocal.
I think I’ll just try the thx or professional settings at the start as this tv is renowned for being great at having a good load of settings straight out of the box. After a while I may have a play with the settings Trance supplied.

          • +1

@JownehFixIT: Has yours arrived? Absolutely loving mine. Not only a great picture but the speakers are very acceptable compared to the usual rubbish ones. Also it has the superior remote which I’m chuffed with.

            • @bennybaubles: Yes! It did arrive in the final business hour of the day on Wednesday last week. Picture is incredible! And like yourself, we've just used the THX and Professional settings so far and haven't had to touch anything else (except for murdering intelligent frame creation of course!)

Everything launches with lightning speed. We're used to loading up a wii u, launching either YouTube or Netflix (both taking ages) and going from there. But on this new TV these apps launch instantly, even holding the point we were previously up to in whatever show/video we had been watching!

The remote is so well weighted, and the brushed metal finish is really nice. Even tested out the Bluetooth receiving on it today and streamed google play music to it from my phone, and when coupled with the picture off function of the TV this is perfect. Also useful for playing heaps of music on YouTube when you don't want/need the video output.

              • @JownehFixIT: I hadn’t noticed the picture off button. That’ll definitely come in handy since the speakers are great for music. Due to the dated os I just grabbed one of those nividea shields off ozbargain so I can stream
kodi and terrarium tv. Now it’ll be the complete package.

                • @bennybaubles: Picture off is tucked away towards the end of the picture settings. I've lost count of the number of times we've just set the (awesome) youtube app to autoplay music and switched off the picture (like right now)!

I was tempted by a shield at Computer Alliance the other day, but I've spent so much on PC hardware and pro controllers (wii u, switch, got an xbox 360 wireless one, etc.), and a steamlink that cost $9 after $20 cashback into steam, so I'm just using the steamlink. I thought its res capped at 1080p but the PC I'm streaming from is 1440p native and it has cast that just fine, and looks fantastic on the new OLED. But so does everything!

                  • @JownehFixIT: I’ve got the ps4 pro so I splashed out yesterday on the big w deal for Spider-Man and red dead redemption 2. My eyeballs just had an orgasm. Speaking of, red tube had the same results in a different part of the anatomy.

                    • @bennybaubles: Haha! I'd rather watch 4k HDR docos than 720p redtube, but that's cool 😎 I'm sure it served its purpose 😁

                      • @JownehFixIT: It was also a doco in HD upscaled to 4k ☝️👍 The upscaling worked a treat especially with the skin tone. and wide colour gamut.

      • +2

I used the settings from this guys video (he is a professional calibrator): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUP2ovGOqdQ

Watched batman in 4k and it was brilliant.

        • Thank you sir. I think I'd seen this darko chap's video on the Panasonic OLED a few months ago when I was first considering getting it. I think I'll follow his quite knowledgeable and logical sounding guidance also.
