      20% discount at Kathmandu

      Is this a deal?

  • It still amuses me he let Linda sing in the band.

    • better than hearing Yoko wail!
Letting go was a great single, very under rated

      • No, it really isn't better! At a live gig a disgruntled engineer separated her vocals and that was played on radio briefly. She was languid and tuneless. McCartney was furious and his lawyers sorted it out very swiftly.

Lovely woman no doubt and with talents, but singing wasn't one of them thar. Tambourine a gateway drug and she probably couldn't be stopped after that. Paul also loved her.

The isolated Hey Jude Live vocal.
Paul's lawyers probably did attempt something.
      :) + :S

Oh dear, I didn't know she had improved.

Her voice was not always that bad, it was probably compounded by not being able to hear herself on stage. Happens in live concerts. E.g in this solo song, her voice may not be amazing, but it is still quite OK. Definitely better than Yoko.

Hi, bluesky. Various milder pitch-control and other audio sweetening techniques pre-date autotune, and likely one or other at least used on that track. As you say result OK, but maybe only just. Personal taste.

Even allowing for possible foldback issues, that isolated live vocal is one of the worst of its kind. A few similarly bad ones about if you are keen to seek. Also a few crook ones around by some better singers having an off day.

Maybe better off listening to Harriet, she's going a bit viral at the moment. :)

I can't argue with that :-) The best of equipment/tech and multiple takes no doubt used to produce the recording. But at least she held the tune.

Harriet 'singing' is adorable. Sounds rather like a human person crying? Hope she is not sad.

              @bluesky: Equine-relevant day today, bluesky.
Horses sometimes whinny in counterintuitive way, seeming unhappy/angry when in fact as happy as Larry/Laura.

Harriet, the singing donkey, may well have hopes of touring around the globe opening for Adele, but still likely also happy.

Have a good day, bluesky, and avoid bulk of ozbargain's seemingly inherent drama. I intend to do just that. The year very rapidly coming to a close!

A very dodgy early Christmas present indeed, bluesky…

Isolated-vocals treatment un-required for this one.
Yep, it's the original lead singer of Toto -

It's equally fun/sad. One commenter probably sums it up, with..
              "Christ, hasn't Africa suffered enough?!"

@[Deactivated]: Thanks, a dodgy early Christmas present indeed! :-)
Jaw dropped … Coming from Linda was one thing - she was no pro.
Very sad and astounded! I have this album (TOTO IV), and coincidentally, was listening to this days ago.

It would be a huge injustice to the original if people only remember this vid when they think of the song. The original was not sung by him but David Paich; he was only backing then.

This song is iconic in more ways than one - the great drummer Jeff Porcaro left his mark on it and inspired drummers even today – with cover after cover of this classic. And still being deconstructed for and by learners.

Now, this song is sad in more ways than one, its butchering here :-); but also thinking of Jeff, a talent extinguished so young (at 38)! But hopefully, people will remember the good things about it.

BTW Here is Jeff’s drumming for Rosanna in the same album (drums only), and Jeff explaining the shuffle used, if it is of interest.

@bluesky: Apology for any distress caused, bluesky. Sorry :)
You were forewarned of dodgy-gift status, however…

If any other defence required, any case would simply rest on yours truly having been just a kid when IV was released.

By way of that, and the novelty of this, would certainly have given my eye-teeth for the vinyl single, picture disc! Missed out there :(

                  It's a great song, bluesky.
Forget that you ever heard that other version of it!

                  :-)

@[Deactivated]: Perfectly alright, T, just felt a bit sorry for the band and him. Astounded, yes, not distress! :-)

Guess what … I found another clip which preceded this in timeline - he was rehearsing this and was just as bad. And they let him on stage after that … what can I say? It’s like they were asking for it! :-)

                      @bluesky: That's also a find!
Kids and adults alike requiring some therapy after witnessing that one…

Three years ago for both those performances, best not to google to see if Bobby is still going..
                      :)

  • He sounds alright. He might do well.

Even in context of addition to lower-priority-to-even-listen-to-once Download Collection Nightmare, still warrants an upvote. Thankyou Pikachu.
