Man im actually old enough to remember playing these back in the day haha!

    • +1

i dont remember this game at all….

      • Yes you do.

      • You had a deprived childhood

        • The only thing I remember back in the 90s and maybe a few or so years after 2000s, was me playing my cousin's N64 a lot….. I had one of those consoles that had like 200 in 1 game cart thing, remember playing Diablo and StarCraft on my windows 95 computer…and Age of Empires Gold Edition….and that's it I think….was mainly the N64 at cousin's house and Age of Empires at my house because I didn't have Diablo or StarCraft at the time, only when my cousin would come over would he bring he's discs over to play….and that's it…..if I was stripped of all that, I would be bored to death as there was literally nothing to do….which I was at some points and it got boring fast….

I did have my toy plushies I would play with by myself with…..pretending they were alive and giving them personalities……I remember playing with toy cars a lot, even drawing makeup roads and houses in one of those notebooks things….and waste like all 48 to 128 pages of the lined book(s) - yes I had more than one, with roads and various places on there….

I would also role play myself imagining that I was in a different world….if you have seen rugrats, it was kinda like that……vivid adventurous worlds…

Also in case you're wondering I had no friends during childhood so I was basically a loner….still don't today as they've either left me for someone else or something else or my and their minds don't comply together…

Great game. About the same time I had jazz jackrabbit.

      And Cosmos Cosmic Adventure!

        Commander keen ftw

          Duke Nukem. The original platformer.

          • @lostn: I couldn't find the one on used to play as a kid on GOG

            • @Quantumcat: Must've been the very first Duke Nukem game:

[Longplay] Duke Nukem Episode 1: Shrapnel City
              https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFuYnLLy5B0

(ye olde harsh PC speaker sounds, so turn volume down)

            • @Quantumcat: If you are talking about duke nukem.

1,2, Manhattan project and Atomic Edition and the Balls of Steel Pinball game all used to be on GoG but sometime after the rights got transfer to Gearbox they were removed because they were under the 3d realms contract.

              https://www.gog.com/news/weekly_staff_picks_farewell_for_now…

i was glad i had them before they disappeared, same with the fallout 1,2 and tactics as the Bethesda versions don't have all the extra's there is a place that mirrors the GoG Website

              • +1

@M911: Thanks guys, I found out the one I remember in duke nukem 2. Shame it isn't on GOG anymore, but at least I know what to look for!

        • Man I'd buy a Commander Keen PS4 collection in a heartbeat

  • Yeah!

    • +4

      New editions still under consideration:
      Jill explores the dark web
Jill loses prince to American celebrity
      Jill escapes the Saudi consulate

      • +2

Jill fetches a pail of water.

      • +3

          Jill of the Urban Jungle
          Jill Goes Underground Clubbing
Jill Saves the Tomb Raider (then gets married)

        • +1

Jill runs out of conventional memory

  • Thanks OP. I still have the registered floppy disk version of this game. I always enjoyed playing it but I found Vinyl Goddess from Mars (released a little later) to be a far superior game.

  • +6

Now where did i put my 386 with ms dos 6.22

    • +4

Next to the 486 with win3.11

    • +3

Pfftt - younglings. I still remember playing Burger Time on my shiny XT8088 that comes with a jaw-dropping 10Mb HDD storage. That means I didn't have to keep changing and re-inserting my 5.25" floppy disks when playing games.

Also, my CPU can be boosted from normal speed of 4.7 Mhz to a blinding speed of 10Mhz!!!

      • I remember the monitors version of multiple colours was when you flicked a switch and it changed the colour from everything being orange to green.

Think it was something about burning retinas or something as heaps of people had screen protectors then.

        • An early version of 'Night Shift', perhaps?

      • Damn, we had a 30MB. 8088 ftw!

  • +2

System requirements have gone up a fair bit since I last played these…

    Such an Epic Game!

    • Eepic

    • +1

      Such an Epic Game MegaGame!

      ftfy

      • They used the pocket change from this game to fund a little game called Unreal, and the rest, as they say…

  • +24

Just a warning to everyone; make sure you've got at least 15MB of free space on your HDD before attempting to download - she's a big one, folks!

    • +1

Holy. That's like 12x5.25" floppy disks

      • +6

Forget them…I've got a Zip Drive!

        • But do you still have a parallel port?

          • @Nukkels: I have one…but nothing uses it though…..

      • +1

        C'mon mate.

Move with the ages. It called progression. I got the new 3.5' which holds a whopping 1.44 mb.

Speaking of which, I believe I still have the 1.44 drive in my computer box of useless stuff but that I cannot bear to throw away. I have LPT cables, com cables, serial to PS/2 converters

    • +3

      Just in case

      DOS=High

      Essential command

      • +2

        ,UMB

    • +1

Perfect timing! I just installed my new Sound Blaster 16!

  • +3

are these similar to debbie does dallas

    • +1

No. You are confusing these for:

      • Jill in the Jungle
      • Jill on the Underground
      • A Jill Saves the Prince
  • +2

Ah the memories! Now we just need Jazz Jackrabbit too!

  • I remember a bunch of these being made at the same time including jazz jackrabbit, and wasn't there some kind of Bible game too? Lol. Churn and burn!

  • Memories indeed.

Just a warning in case anyone else has a problem checking out. Turn off Adblock Plus and refresh your cart. Latest Adblock Plus is giving me grief on 2 different computers.

  • +1

    Finally jill is on GOG!!!!!!!!

Great memories playing this as a kid!

        32

        • oh ur older than me!

  • +1

    Stoopid frogs.

15MB download. Time to take advantage of a new SSD deal

    • An SSD won't help much - your money would be better spent upgrading your 14.4k modem.

      • 15mb was about a 30min download back in the heyday. probably 3-4 disconnections too.

        • I think I didn't use the internet for the first time until like 3 or 4 years after I played this game

      • +2

You need to disable the turbo button on your desktop or it will go too fast unless you're on a 286.

        • I thought enabling the turbo button generally halved the clock speed (as the PC was running at full speed by default) thus enabling turbo will slow it down to playable speed.

So disabling the turbo button would always make the game run too fast.

          • @OneJay: Maybe yours was wired backwards. Turbo was always full speed when I had it.

  • I'm more of a Xargon kinda guy.

  • +1

    I'd hit it.

  • So I need a gog account etc ? They don’t work on steam? Sorry new to this kinda gaming setup

    • I need a gog account = Yes.
work on steam? = No, these aren't Steam games/codes. They're DRM-free games. Either download the installers from your account page, or optionally install via their GOG Galaxy client.

      • Ok thanks

I have the steam app on my iMac so just wanted to know if I can Install them in there but guess not

        • Not sure about Mac, but on the Windows Steam client you can add non-Steam games to your Library. So Steam client becomes a launcher for those games.

          • @MiniMoo: Hmm I’ll look into it as it should be the same

Do I just download these games directly to my Mac?

            • @Twisty: Don't know about Mac. See the GOG help or faq pages. I do see that there's an Apple icon for the game though.

  • +1

I remember this. Didn't remember it being popular but by the looks of ozbargain i stand corrected lol

  • For all the recent damage they have done? Nice try, but it wont be enough. #BoycottGOG

Anyone know what this is suppose to mean?

    • They used a hashtag that was trending at the time and used it in an inappropriate way and people got offended and GOG promptly apologised for it soon after… Yep…

      • Got any pictures on that, assuming all the evidence have been deleted, so I could see these hashtag offenses myself….?

          • @punk: I don't get it….how is that offensive? Sure the use of the hashtag is weird, usually that would be at the bottom of the paragraph/comment on a new line, like a "PS" type comment…….but otherwise, nothing offensive about that….

            • @Zachary: It's a hashtag being used by trans people to make a statement, and GOG came and used it to sell PC games, hence why people are offended.

Personally, I think sure, it was inappropriate, but they've apologised and changed how they use Twitter, so IMO we should move on. There are far worse atrocities going on in this world that deserve attention rather than worrying about a misused hashtag.

              • @CarbonTwelve: Ah, well I'm not a trans people so I wouldn't have had known…..or understood the reference….thanks for explaining…

  • Oh so this is where all this feminist bullshit started, JANE MAKE ME MAD

  • Anyone else finding they can't go to the checkout screen? I have it in my cart, but when I click 'Go to checkout' it just redirects me to the GOG homepage.

Edit: Hmm, only just noticed how old this bargain is, not sure why it came up in my feed…
