Defiant Screen Entertainment is proud to present the riveting, whip-smart suspense thriller Spinning Man, starring Guy Pearce, Pierce Brosnan and Minnie Driver.
Evan Birch (Pearce) is a family man and esteemed professor at a distinguished college, where his charm and reputation have made his philosophy class very popular. When a female student goes missing, Evan's previous off-campus dalliances make his wife (Driver) question his alibi. Gruff police Detective Malloy (Brosnan) has even more reason to be suspicious when crucial evidence makes Evan the prime suspect in her disappearance. Suddenly, the questions Evan faces aren't merely academic - they're a matter of life or death.
Working with such an experienced and accomplished cast felt a bit like cheating to Director Simon Kaijser who said, "they're so professional and experienced that it seems they are doing half my job already". He continued, "one of the most rewarding parts of this process is to start talking about a character with an actor and start to calibrate how this character is going to be. Especially good actors like them, they bring something to the table and I think it's important to make them feel part of it", said Kaijser.
Based on his prize-winning book, author George Harrar said, "the idea for the story came from a real-life event, where a young girl disappeared from a lake and the news reports talked about a white car and I began to wonder about the person in the white car and why he didn't come forward. I stopped listening to the news, because I didn't want my imagination to be affected by the real story."
When asked about his role, Guy Pearce said, "as much as the script has a strong plot, it really is an exploration of human behaviour and how we deal with each other, particularly when we're under pressure. What Simon (Kaijser) was interested in was pretty much what I was interested in as well… it really was about psychology, behaviour, the fragility of one's identity."
And on working with Pierce Brosnan, Kaijser said, "it was very appealing to have him playing a less polished character as opposed to Guy Pearce. The fact that he wanted to do this part told me that he wanted to do something a little bit different."
Knockout performances by Guy Pearce & Pierce Brosnan and a gripping story drive this top-notch psychological thriller that explores the fine line that sometimes exists between guilt and innocence.
