San Francisco Day Pass

We are planning on traveling to San Fran and will be staying with family for a total of 2 weeks.
A lot of people on internet recommends to get this Pass so wonder what OzB think?
It will cost us over AUD$300 in total. Relos are working but well take us astound a bit…

Having lived there - The muni and Bart are cheap enough to get around, along with Uber.

Suppose it depends on number of people - if it’s only two, then I wouldn’t bother. Having caught the muni into work daily, I was only spending a couple dollars each way.

The historic trams are around $8-10 each (one way) depending if you going from the financial district / shopping precincts down to say fisherman’s wharf and other famous spots. Although the Uber Pool for 2 people would be around $6-10, as an example.

Can my Oz App work there?

Hey. Ive just returned from a week or so in San Fran with the family. We used Uber everywhere without issue. We found the service to be really good (Helps that Uber started there I guess).
If youre using the BART or ferries etc, Id recommend getting a clipper card which will save you about 25-30% on most adult fares.

        App works fine.

Drivers used to have a issue calling international numbers associated with your account so that could’ve been the issue, however you can now call via the app using voip.

Agree with getting a clipper card. What does the day pass offer ?

U serious? Uber was founded in and has their headquarters in San Francisco…

Yes works fine over there. Not sure why they would have had an issue… I certainly have never had an issue between countries.

Uber was so good when I was in SF a few years ago, they had a deal going $6 USD anywhere in SF (via Uber pool).

I wouldn't bother with this day pass thing you are after to be honest.

Head to Haight street, Golden gate park, Fishermans Wharf, Take an Uber across Golden Gate bridge and walk up the hill on the other side - the view is freaking incredible! We walked back over the bridge it was so good.

The Mission district has so much good cali mexican food! And dive bars, amazing dive bars! $2 USD pints of Cali craft beer oh man…

San Francisco is a great walking town - although the hills are pretty steep. You can also get around on public transport fairly well.

    My recommendations are:
    a) Ride the trolley car, prefereably at the front or on the outside running boards. Touristy but fun.
    b) Walk to fisherman's wharf and wander around the district. Drop in at Ghiridelli's and try the chocolates (you can buy them cheaper elsewhere though).
    c) If you are looking to buy wine and food then have a look at the Cost Plus close to Fisherman's Wharf. We got some good priced Australian wine there, but that was a few years ago.
    d) Go to the museums and art galleries - they have some good ones
    e) San Francisco has some great restaurants - try to avoid fisherman's wharf area
    f) See if you can borrow a car and go down to Monterey - they have a great Aquarium down there, with Sea Otters, and some great sea food.
    g) If it isn't winter then see if you can also borrow the car to go to Yosemite - go to Glacier point at dusk and watch the sunset across the Dome. You might want to stay outside the park and travel back and forth. Accomodation can be hard to get and expensive in the park itself.

We really like San Francisco and have been a few times - SOOO much better than LA.
