Samsung Reject to Give Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey Code

I bought a 860EVO 1TB SSD from a recent SSD deal from Shopping Express. I did not get a code of the game. I asked them for it and they said they don’t have any.
However according to the promotion page on Samsung. All eligible purchase “will” get a code. So I called Samsung a few times and no solution is given. I also emailed [email protected] since the terms and condition PDF page suggest customers to contact this email of code not received.
Now the staff replied:

Thanks for your enquiry regarding the Samsung SSD Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey Promotion.

In this promotion, the game codes are to be provided by the reseller for an eligible purchase which includes “-ACOD” to represent the game bundle per the terms and conditions. We (Samsung) do not have any game codes to provide for this promotion.

For your purchase with Shopping Express, it should have been stated that the codes were sold out at the time of purchase for the game bundle code if they had sold out of the codes at the time of purchase.

Above is the bullshit email I received. What do you think? I am pretty angry about this cheating company. The SSD is not opened yet. Maybe I should return it. Or I may complain to customer organization. However that takes time. But I think this kind of company needs punishment.

Above is the bullshit email I received.

Why do you think this is BS? A lot of promotions work like this. Here are the T&Cs.

    1.3 is

receive from the Participating Reseller a unique code

But you know this already because you already read the T&C PDF page. So what gives? You can't actually read? Or you just choose to ignore anything that's inconvenient to your whining?

So it's on you to get the code, and it's on Shopping Express to give you the code. No code? No game. Go complain to Shopping Express if you didn't get a code. Or go get a refund and buy from some place that has a code to give.

As a gamer, you should know better than to QQ so easily.

Personally I do not want to buy any Samsung product again. They tried to hide the truth of the Bomb Note 7. They do not provide global warranty like other manufacturers. They are (profanity) bad and always do bad things. I regret buying Galaxy phones, Gear watch, Gear VR and so on. Most of the products are not great and have many issues. However I stupidly see the advertisement and bought them.
I may seem angry now. But I act very polite when contacting these guys. But they are just not good people. And always try to rip people off, always disppoint me.

    • +6

Not their fault you can't read, or that Shopping Express ran out of codes and didn't tell you. Go do your impotent raging somewhere that might actually care.

      • -4

        Did you read?
        “Eligible Claimants who:
        2.1 Purchase a Participating Product from a Participating Reseller during the Promotional Period;
2.2 submit an Eligible Claim during the Redemption Period; and
2.3 otherwise comply with these T&Cs,
will receive an invitation to download a program that constitutes the Gift that may be used on a Compatible Device.”

        Will! Will! Will!
That means you will get it. And if you read carefully you can see, if you don’t get the code you should contact that email and they will solve it. That is what said?
        Please read carefully!

You skipped over all of 1. An "eligible claim" is:

          1. To be eligible to claim a Gift, an Eligible Claimant must:

1.3 receive from the Participating Reseller a unique code

It's not an eligible claim without a code. I'm still a little flabbergasted you apparently can read when it's convenient to you, but lose the ability to read when it's not.

          • -2

@HighAndDry: Well played mate! You are eligible to work for Samsung now. They need a lot of "you". That makes Samsung strong.

            • +1

@theabyss: I mean, I wish this was some amazing sleuthing on my part, but it really only needed basic comprehension. It's only a 2-page PDF.

I'm not even disagreeing that you should be annoyed - but you should be annoyed at Shopping Express, and/or ask them to give you a refund so you can buy from someone who has a code to give you.

            • @theabyss: Unlike the world, which does not need a lot of you, Abyss, you make the world weak, and stupid.

        • "Can you read" is the question everyone is asking you after this message.

When you aren't reading things right yourself, maybe drop the condescension.

They tried to hide the truth of the Bomb Note 7.

They responded to the incident quite well actually, and did explain the reasoning behind the issue and how they went on to ensure it would not happen again.

And always try to rip people off, always disppoint me.

Purchase an Apple product then, they certainly sell with integrity, i mean their new iphone sells for >$1k with a 720p display, BARGAIN!

      • -6

Not really. You only read the news Samsung bought. If you see the whole timeline you will not say this.
And in China they refuse to admit the problem. This make people angry and now Samsung makes less than 1% of the market.
        Bad company deserve this.

      what a child

  • The SSD is not opened yet. Maybe I should return it. Or I may complain to customer organization. However that takes time

So does posting a thread on OzBargain with someones direct contact details who is not responsible for you not getting a code, it was your lack of comprehension of the T&C's.

    • Copy and Paste. Will remove the contact now.

      • +2

Thanks. Now contact the reseller who was responsible for the code and politely ask if you can obtain it and if not is there anything else they could offer instead? You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

        • -3

I am always very polite when contacting. So when you still receive unsatisfactory answers it really annoys you.

Shopping Express: We want to give you a code. But we do not have any. We are provided very few codes (Samsung's fault).

          Samsung: None of my business!!

Promotion Page: Dear customer you can trust us! You can get the code with our guarantee!

Kicking balls is really a shame.

            @theabyss:

I am always very polite when contacting.

The issue is that you contacted the wrong party. Shopping Express was supposed to give you the code. Not Samsung.

          • @theabyss: PSSST! Here was the point where you should have used your brain.

Shopping Express bought their stock from Samsung. Transaction Done. SE sold their stock to you. Transaction, Done. SE did not provide the entire package you were eligible for, that means that the second transaction, where SE sold to you, was invalid, and they owed you the code. You didn't buy from Samsung. You bought from SE, and they owe you the code. If they don't have enough from Samsung, that is their responsibility to either a) buy more b) work out where the codes they had went, because that is what you are buying. Even if it's something retroactive Samsung forces on them, as a reseller, that's their obligation.

Lol dylo, they are not private contact details. They're in the T&C's themselves. And no, it does state to contact him if you don't get a code. He's followed the correct process.

      • No, as has already been established throughout this thread that was not the person the OP was meant to contact.
Posting someones direct email, phone etc is not really constructive to a forum post.

        • Wait, who are you referring to? R Chan or someone else?

[Edit] Ok fair enough on the phone number, however the email address is publicly available.

  • +2

The SSD is not opened yet. Maybe I should return it.

Email ShoppingExpress that you'd like to return it since it you didn't get a code with it.

    • +1

      this.
theabyss, I get that you're disappointed but looks like you need to follow up with Shopping Express
FWIW I think S.E should have mentioned NO CODE will be given when they list it

  • Unless Shopping Express advertised this promotion, you have zero grounds to expect to receive a code nor are you eligible for a refund.

    • -2

I think there are a lot of sellers in this forum. This is not your store. How can you say that?
Most stores have no issues with return, especially when the item is as original, never opened.
If your store do not accept, I think you should think why your customers do not like it.

      • Unless you were sold an item which promised to include the code, you weren't eligible.

How you can say anything in response is absurd, you should think about why that is.

  • +2

Not sure why you guys are being so harsh?? It's pretty bullshit that they aren't honouring it, nowhere does it state that the codes are 'subject to availability' or that there is a finite amount. It doesn't suggest anywhere that the promotion would end early for any reason.

In fact there's even another line in the T&Cs here:

    • 6 . If a Gift is unavailable, Samsung may substitute a gift of equal or greater value at its discretion.

So, seeing as it's unavailable, they should offer something in its place.

    Or this part:

    • If, due to delay in receiving the Code that is not caused by the claimant, a claimant is unable to provide their Code at
the time of submitting the Form, the claimant must still submit the Form during the Redemption Period and the
claimant must then contact Samsung via email to [[email protected]] to receive for the Code.

We're not to blame for not receiving the code, so I don't see why we should be knocked back.

I'm in this situation too and it's quite frustrating. We followed the due process and purchased the product during the promotional period. It's really as simple as that.

    • If a Gift is unavailable, Samsung may substitute a gift of equal or greater value at its discretion.

      Samsung MAY substituteat its discretion

      1. To be eligible to claim a Gift, an Eligible Claimant must:

1.3 receive from the Participating Reseller a unique code ("Code") (by email to their nominated email address if
      purchased online, or in person if purchased at a storefront);

As already stated previously. If the seller is actually still advertising that you get this game on the selected SSDs and they don't give it to you, then request a refund from the seller.

      • +1

You guys are bizarre. It's Samsung's promotion! It's like they're offloading responsibility onto the sellers and just saying 'we have nothing to do with this'. Completely backwards, that's not how it works. Generally in these promotions, if you don't get it via the seller, you contact the owner of the promotion. Because that's just bloody logical. Indeed, their T&Cs confirm this (albeit in a weird way).

It's clear nobody here didn't get a code lol

        • If Coke were running a promotion and your bottle didn't have a code on it, would you give up once the store said they didn't have any? Of course you damn well wouldn't! Start realising that this is a weird way to run a promotion please. T&Cs are vague at BEST, and again, they do NOT mention any limitation of 'while stocks last'

          • @fLaMePrO:

If Coke were running a promotion and your bottle didn't have a code on it, would you give up once the store said they didn't have any?

            I'd ask for a refund.

        • You guys are bizarre. It's Samsung's promotion! It's like they're offloading responsibility onto the sellers and just saying 'we have nothing to do with this'.

Well yea. They give the sellers a specific number of codes. If the seller runs out of them, they should withdraw the promotion from their website. If not, it's their responsibility.

  • Any more updates on this? Messaged them 3 days ago with no response.

    • I returned the SSD in its original package, unopened and get a refund. I bought from another store and got the code.

      • I still have no response from them. Already opened.

        • Then I guess you can't get it unless Samsung is willing to give a code to you, which is very unlikely.
