  • win….i knew about it…just didnt post it…as no firm confirmation of it being unlocked, as far as WP says it is though. btw i believe it comes with 8gb card too, huge bang for buck there.

  • This has been their standard price since the phone was released.

  • hmm, battery life seems a bit less than comparative HTC's, Samsung etc.

Anyone with any experience on how they go?

    • 350hrs standby is less competitive? o.O

my android phone only lasts ~5 days on standby

      • My Galaxy S lasts about 2 days if I use it infrequently.. when I've used it pretty heavily, I've been down to nothing in 15 hours or so!
Even if I didn't use it at all, I'd be surprised to see the battery life go much past 3 days (ie 72 hours….)

  • I'll wait for the X6, thanks.

    • Apparently the X6 is only for release in the Euro/Other markets, not Australia. It's been re-named the CherryMagnum-HD or something.

    • +1

are the only differences between the x6 and the x5, x6 has faster cpu, fm radio, and hdmi out?

btw the $349 on mobicity is for the x5.. they don't have a price for the x6 yet

      • X6 also has front secondary camera for video calls, 4.1" screen (X5 3.8"), is thinner and aesthetics is better IMO!

  • +2

You can also get the phone for free if you sign up to a $29 cap (over 24 months) which includes $200 a month call/text & unlimited free calls to those on Vodafail / 3 network (assuming anyone on the network can receive calls/data).

    • You might as well get something else (not on vodafail) like the xperia x10 on big cap (like i did XD). Better specs and value. Plus with CM, i get 2 days of continuous use and wifi/3g on (i sleep with rhianna singing S+M in my ears -lame… i know-) so you cant really complain about battery life.

  • According to:

    http://delimiter.com.au/2011/03/16/huawei-ideos-x5-hits-aust…

You can get 2 X5's for $0 on the $49 Twin Cap.

$550 shared cap. 750MB data on each SIM.

After subtracting the phone's $299 value, makes the plan $12 per SIM. Which is pretty darn good value I reckon.

  • Awesome deal. Can I upgrade if I am already a crazyjohn user?

    • dunno (if ur on a plan then probaly no?) but its prepaid so u can buy it outright

  • Got one from CJ last week. Great phone with a good price tag. Very happy with the purchase.
For the battery, it lasted three days before recharge. So not bad.

    • wows. was that w/o root and CM? if so thats amazing. my phone (xperia) lasted 6hrs to 8 hrs on extensive use when i first got it…….
      Glad your happy with it.

      • I haven't got any chance to use it extensively, just for normal phone calls and web browsing sometime. That's why the battery could last over three days.

    • Hi, is the phone unlocked when you bought it? Because when i went to the store they told me that it would be locked.

  • Doesnt do telstra nextG does it? :(

    • +1

nope, they use 850 to carry 3g I believe

  • Not technically a bargain since it's standard pricing, but I guess it is good value when compared to a HTC Legend for instance.

Very tempted to get it but I already have a Garmin A50.

    • same here.got garmin A50 too..but the large screen is a plus. how does this compared to nuvifone A50?

      • Speed wise, CPU is about 33% faster than A50. GPU is much faster though (at least 2X faster). Screen resolution is also better.

So, if gaming (esp. 3D) is important, X5 is a better choice. A50 has Garmin software built in, plus the car kit. X5 runs Android 2.2.

If GPS is important (much more important than gaming to you), A50 is still a better choice (really fast GPS lock - and Garmin GPS software is arguably the best in the Android world - no TomTom yet). Car mounting kit is included in A50.

        • thanks mate. As a result, I've ordered one :)

      • Better performance, better camera, higher screen resolution, and longer lasting battery.

  • How is the CJ(Voda/3) network in Sydney? For calls/data? I am really tempted to go on this twin cap, however, I don’t want to be locked into a horrible network for 24months (from what I hear, Voda is horrible). I’m currently on TPG and it’s fine for what I need.

Also I have read of Wifi/crashing problems with this X5 in various places. Rumours or…?

And I don't really see the extra hype for the X6. Really, it's only the processor that's better and has a larger screen (as the GPU is the same). Obviously if it isn't that much more expensive it would be good.

    • get a 2 voda sim and check reception in your area first

  • Got mine today and it is not locked.
